Plan, coordinate, and implement strategic grassroots engagement, education, and mobilization aligned with chapter priorities.
Develop strong Sierra Club volunteer teams and committees focusing on the Sioux Falls area; identify, recruit, and organize volunteers.
Train and coach volunteer leaders to strategize, organize, inspire, and motivate.
Collaborate in developing and implementing organizing strategies and measure success against benchmarks.
Maintain and develop partnerships with affinity groups, coalitions, and partner organizations to advance equity initiatives.
Represent Sierra Club to media, community leaders, coalitions, allies, and the public; work with communications staff on public education and media strategy.
Support Chapter communications: contribute writing/editing for fundraising appeals, coordinate donor acknowledgements, manage chapter website, and help produce newsletters.
Communicate priorities and benchmarks, provide leadership, and report to the Deputy Regional Field Director.
Requirements
Familiarity with South Dakota culture, history and political landscape.
Demonstrated ability and effectiveness working with volunteers (professionally or as a volunteer leader).
Understanding of advocacy work and public mobilization tactics to influence decision-makers.
Ability to work closely in small groups with colleagues, volunteers, community members, and representatives from other organizations.
Excellent written and oral communication skills; ability to produce compelling written and digital materials.
Ability to meet deadlines, work under pressure, and reach consensus on shared projects.
Committed to continuously evolving understanding of systems of oppression and shifting behaviors.
Able to travel as needed; valid driver’s license, satisfactory driving record, and proof of auto insurance required.
