About the role

  • Distech Controls (a subsidiary of Acuity Brands) provides building management technologies and energy management solutions that optimize energy efficiency and comfort in buildings.
  • The Sales Manager for New York will identify and maintain strategic relationships with General Contractors and Developers throughout the state of New York.
  • Identify a variety of projects in various stages of development and focus on projects that are one-million square feet or larger in the New York City metro area.
  • Work with Distech Controls' System Integrator base and Acuity Brands Lighting Agency to cultivate existing relationships and develop new leads via lunch-and-learns, cold calls and networking events.
  • Assist with estimating controls projects and discuss technical topics such as HVAC, BAS, IT, Fiber Networks and Lighting Controls.
  • Coordinate involvement of company personnel, participate in project management activities, write estimates and proposals, and maintain accurate tracking of leads and opportunities using CRM.
  • Achieve assigned sales quota, meet profitability expectations, complete client account plans, and maintain high client satisfaction ratings.

Requirements

  • Candidate should currently reside in Colorado, Arizona, New Mexico, Utah or Las Vegas and understand the market landscape.
  • Four years University or College degree from an accredited institution or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of HVAC and/or Building Automation System sales management.
  • Sales management experience in a business-to-business environment, partnering with Engineers and Architects.
  • Exceptional written, oral communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and handle various priorities.
  • Personal computer proficiency and excels in MS Office Applications.
  • Extensive experience and capability to speak "up and down" the channel/construction cycle (designers, manufacturers, engineering firms, general contractors, etc.).
  • Experience in a company that manufactures and markets technically complex controls products through a variety of distribution channels.
  • This position requires some travel and the employee must hold a valid driver's license.
  • The employee shall hold a valid passport.
  • This position may require the employee to maintain a home-based office.
