About the role
- Analyze project specifications and requirements to prepare precise cost estimates and customer proposals
- Estimate electrical testing of apparatus at customer locations (Breakers, Transformers, Switchgear, etc.) for NETA Acceptance/Maintenance Testing services
- Work directly with electrical estimators, outside sales, and operations to ensure jobs are quoted properly
- Evaluate and complete RFQs received from Shermco sales personnel
- Obtain additional information required for quoting from outside sales or customer (accessibility constraints, one-line drawings, training requirements, photos, etc.)
- Read and interpret plans, proposals, and other documents to create competitive bids
- Participate in quarterly job walks with outside sales to further technical knowledge
- Maximize job margin% by reviewing past job performance data and ensuring proper costing and scope
- Prepare quote worksheets estimating labor, materials, vendor support, logistics, freight, and associated expenses
- Obtain vendor quotes for material and services as applicable
- Perform daily reviews of Quote Queues to ensure timely submissions
- Review irregular or large projects with production or operational personnel
- Collaborate with production departments to confirm hours and materials
- Write technical proposals and prepare quote letters; update quotes and assist with change order proposals
- Remain informed about industry trends and company services through continuous learning
- Report directly to the estimation manager and take ownership for departmental objectives
Requirements
- 2+ years of electrical testing estimation experience preferred (not required) or experience as an electrical technician
- Be able to read and understand one-line diagrams
- Knowledge of using Salesforce
- Demonstrated ability to be self-directed and highly motivated
- Strong interpersonal, communication, written and oral presentation skills
- Solid understanding of profitability and other financial measurements
- Advanced computer skills with Excel, Word, Adobe, Bluebeam, Microsoft Outlook
- Strong time management, planning, organizing and prioritization skills
- Strategic thinking and strong analytical skills
- A professional demeanor and a positive attitude
- Must be able to read, write, and speak English fluently
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test and periodic, unannounced random drug tests
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment criminal background check
