About the role

  • Lead and mentor cross-functional technical teams of engineers, managing multidisciplinary projects from concept through delivery
  • Oversee a team of engineers, improving efficiency and productivity while ensuring minimal operational disruption and compliance with engineering processes and global trade requirements
  • Collaborate with AS Business Units and Product Line leaders to enhance productivity, drive strategic growth, and implement process improvements
  • Develop and maintain internal and external networks, ensuring alignment with stakeholders and building relationships with peers, industry partners, and vendors
  • Manage recruiting, hiring, resource allocation, and overall group management of multi-discipline engineers, including daily activity management, performance reviews, career development, and succession planning
  • Ensure compliance with Collins Aerospace processes and standard work requirements
  • Oversee and contribute to the development of engineering bids and proposals
  • Build strong relationships with Business Units, Global Engineering and Technology Centers, and SMEs to provide high-quality support and foster trust
  • Identify and implement strategies to improve policies, practices, and procedures
  • Support the technical development of engineers using fundamental principles and provide technical guidance to enhance team knowledge and skills
  • Manage project planning, budgeting, and process development to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget
  • Track and review individual and team performance metrics, conduct performance reviews, and hold regular one-on-one meetings
  • Travel up to 10% domestically and internationally based on business needs
  • Perform additional duties as required

Requirements

  • Degree in STEM and minimum 8 years prior relevant experience OR Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years of experience
  • Demonstrated professional experience communicating in English (verbal and written)
  • U.S. citizenship required (access to program/contract financial management system)
  • Experience collaborating with global teams with diverse technical and functional backgrounds (preferred)
  • Experience in designing and qualifying mechanical components (preferred)
  • Experience on aerospace military platforms (preferred)
  • Knowledge in FEA principles and experience with Ansys, Abaqus, or similar (preferred)
  • Knowledge of Static, Thermal, and Dynamic fundamentals (preferred)
  • Experience with fatigue, modal, random vibration, and other failure modes (preferred)
  • Ability to apply and interpret GD&T (preferred)
  • Knowledge of FAA military and commercial regulations (preferred)
  • Experience with coding in VBA, MATLAB, Simulink, Python, or similar (preferred)
  • Experience with metallics, advanced materials, composites, and additive manufacturing methods (preferred)
  • Experience with technology project development including TDP: TRL/MML/MRL progression projects (preferred)
  • Experience with Product Lifecycle Management tools, SAP, and Configuration Management (preferred)
  • Knowledge in developing machine learning and physics-informed machine learning (preferred)
  • Experience in Siemens NX, CATIA V5, or similar CAD packages (preferred)
  • Experience applying EVMS performance metrics (preferred)
  • Experience in managing programs or parts of a program and leading engineers (preferred)
  • Experience in creating career development programs for employees (preferred)
