About the role
- Supplier identification and selection for all commodities required to manufacture Procept products (metals, plastics, PCBAs, cables, electronic components)
- Negotiate Product Development Agreements and Supply Agreements to secure Procept’s interests in quality, cost, delivery, capacity, and performance
- Establish a framework for supply chain risk management (Tier 1 and sub-tier) and drive projects to reduce supply continuity risk
- Support Bill of Materials (BOM) cost reduction targets through competitive sourcing techniques
- Develop 'should-cost' models as part of developing cost reduction strategies and in support of negotiations with suppliers
- Lead resolution of issues related to delivery, supplier performance, quality, or cost
- Represent Supply Chain at new product/project core team meetings and project phase-exit reviews
- Lead or participate in the continuous improvement of business processes and tools
- Directly supervise employees in Strategic Sourcing organization including interviewing, hiring, training, assigning work, appraising performance, and resolving complaints
Requirements
- 10+ years of working experience working in direct materials for new and existing products
- Experience with and a functional understanding of manufacturing processes: precision machining, sheet metal, plastic injection molding, other plastics processes
- Experience with contract manufacturing, OEM or electro-mechanical components (motors/sensors)
- Experience with electronic components (PCA/PCBA/Optics, etc.)
- Experienced with supplier negotiations and contract development
- Experience with make vs. buy decisions & ROI analysis
- Excellent communication skills (verbal, email, presentations)
- Working knowledge of buying, material planning, master scheduling, and forecasting
- Certifications: CPSM, CPIM, and/or PMP is a plus
- Ability to proactively follow up on areas of responsibility in a timely manner
- Experience working with engineers and manufacturing personnel for prototype parts procurement, pilot activities and production launch of new products
- Significant computer experience including MS Office products and ERP systems; strong MS-Excel skills
- Ability to read and have a basic understanding of engineering drawings
- Basic understanding of data visualization tools (Tableau, Power BI) is a plus
- Knowledge of Cost of Goods Sold (COGs) and cost levers
- Supervisory experience (interviewing, hiring, training, performance management)
