Assistant

• Assists the classroom teacher with the general supervision and management of the Preschool class (3-5 years old) children.
• Assists in the implementation of the daily program under the direction of the classroom teacher, which includes lesson plans and activities.
• Prepares the learning environment indoor and outdoor, setting up interest centers and preparing needed materials and supplies.
• Greets all arriving and departing children and their parents/guardian.
• Supervises the classroom when classroom teacher is out of classroom.
• Observes and reacts to the needs of guests, staff, volunteers, and community partners.
• Works collaboratively with Preschool staff, Director and OSC Education staff to provide appropriate programs, activities and projects.

Preschool Assistant

Teacher

• Responsible for the general supervision and management of a class of preschool (3-5 yr) children.
• Planning and executing the Early Childhood education program in accordance with the goals and objectives set forth by the Orlando Science Center Preschool.
• Instructing children (3-5 yr) in activities designed to promote social/emotional, physical, and intellectual growth.
• Embraces STEM education in the curriculum approach.
• Establishes clear objectives for lessons and communicates these to children.
• Organizes and directs activities/materials to promote physical, mental, and social development.
• Maintains safety and health standards of the classroom and outdoor environment.
• Provides materials and resources for children to explore and manipulate during learning and play.
• Prepares materials and classroom for activities.
• Establishes and maintains rules of behavior and procedures in regard to class control.
• Observes and evaluates a child’s performance, behavior, social development, and physical health.

Preschool Teacher

General

• Responsible for the daily care of the aquatic animal collection within the LIFE exhibit.
• The Lead Animal Keeper of Aquatics will conduct water quality testing, maintain life support systems, oversee dive operations and perform conservation-based keeper talks that include hands on live animal interactions with Orlando Science Center guests.
• Additionally, the Lead Animal Keeper will mentor Animal Keepers, Assistant Animal Keepers, volunteers, and interns within LIFE.
• The lead also provides administrative and operational support to the Animal Care Manager, with emphasis on daily operations and scheduling, to ensure quality control.
• The Lead Aquatic Animal Keeper may be cross trained to assist in staff coverage within the Swamp, Rainforest and Animal Ambassador areas in addition to their primary aquatic responsibilities.
• Prepare and feed daily ration of frozen, fresh, and dry commercial foods.
• Maintain exhibit aesthetics through regular cleaning of habitats and exhibits including underwater exhibit maintenance.
• Present public programs with and without live animals to diverse groups on a microphone.
• Participates in departmental and special events both at the science center and off property.
• Keeps up to date records and logs on animals' diets, health, and husbandry.
• Trains and oversees staff, interns, adult, and youth volunteers on all OSC SOPs including proper animal handling procedures and basic husbandry and gives feedback regarding staff daily duties.
• Represent Orlando Science Center in a professional manner with all guests and staff.
• May act as an Institutional Representative for designated Species Survival Plan.
• May act as OSC’s Dive Safety Officer and perform associated duties
• Proficient in the operation of aquatic exhibits including life support systems and maintenance.
• Designated areas of LSS supervision include all Ocean gallery exhibits (including shark, live coral and touch tank), the gator/turtle exhibit in the Swamp gallery, the cichlid exhibit in the Rainforest gallery and all aquatic holding pools including quarantine.
• Proficient at opening and closing duties within all areas of the LIFE exhibit.
• Monitor and observe animal’s health and welfare and report any concerns to the Animal Care Manager.
• Maintains animal records using ZIMS record keeping system and daily logs
• Performs necropsies on fish species as needed.
• Administers medicines and routine medical care to OSC’s living collection.
• Oversees department intern and volunteer program including training.
• Oversees Assistant Animal Keepers, and Animal Keepers in the absence of the Animal Care Manager.
• Develop educational content and conservation messaging for public programs, hands-on activities, blogs or other digital platforms that focuses on animal care in collaboration with Animal Care Manager.
• Acts as part of a ride out crew during severe weather to ensure animal health and safety and to assist as needed for facility support.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Lead Animal Keeper – Aquatics

Human Resources

• Assists with end-to-end recruitment processes, including job postings, resume screening, and candidate tracking.
• Conducts initial phone screens to evaluate candidate qualifications, interest, and fit for the role.
• Schedules interviews and coordinates communication between candidates and hiring managers.
• Maintains accurate, up-to-date records in the applicant tracking system (ADP Workforce Now).
• Supports hiring events and recruitment campaigns as needed.
• Communicates promptly and professionally with candidates to ensure a positive experience throughout the hiring process.
• Participates in the planning and execution of employee engagement events.
• Maintains the integrity and confidentiality of all human resources files and records.
• Ensures compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
• Provides general administrative support to the Human Resources team.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Human Resources Assistant

Education Specialist

• The Education Specialist: Curriculum and Instruction project manages special projects relating to PreK-12 education programs and educator professional development.
• They are responsible for leading and developing all PreK-12 STEM curricula for the Education Department including workshops, educator professional development, family programs, conference presentations and camps.
• Engaging and educating PreK-12 students, educators and their caregivers about STEM and various sciences with the use of age appropriate, inquiry based, hands-on activities in an informal setting.
• Deliver educational content in hands-on workshops, educator professional development, and family programming both on and off museum grounds.
• Performs the function of project manager for assigned special projects relating to PreK-12 education and out-of-school time learning.
• Works in conjunction with the Director of Education Initiatives to foster relationships with external partners, develop timelines and contracts as needed to ensure completion of all grant and sponsor deliverables for assigned projects.
• Monitors quality control for all education curricula and updates existing programs and content as needed.
• Maintains a safe and secure environment for guests and staff.

Education Specialist, Curriculum & Instruction

Manager

• The Manager of Exhibits provides administrative and operational support for the Exhibits Department.
• Assist exhibit leadership to oversee non-exempt exhibit staff and volunteers.
• Ensure all exhibit assets are safe, clean and operational 98% of the time including traveling exhibits.
• Produce a detailed schedule that highlights the staffing assignments for exhibit projects and tasks.
• Ensure all pertinent staff documents and training materials are updated as necessary.
• Coordinate training and schedules for exhibit staff and volunteers.
• Accurately document which exhibits are operational, partially operational, off the floor and inoperative on floor.
• Recommend improvements to existing components to decrease M&R incidents to the Director of Facility and Exhibit Maintenance.
• Perform regular quality control evaluations on exhibit maintenance operations.
• Coordinate with operations team and update exhibits calendar with facility wide events and operational experiences to staff accordingly.
• Coordinate and oversee the safe load-in/load-out of traveling exhibits, on time and on budget.
• Purchase exhibit materials and consumables within budget.
• Assist non-exempt staff as needed to complete (opening, closing, cleaning, etc.).
• Operate effectively under time constraints and meet deadlines, work with minimal supervision, both alone and in teams.
• Troubleshoot exhibit deficiencies and guide exhibit staff to make appropriate repairs.
• Lead the Maintenance and care of water and plant-based exhibits including chemical management and water chemistry.
• Ensure all audio/visual needs associated with exhibits, live programming, and special events are met. Works to keep these systems operational 98% of the time.
• Project manager for install and deinstall of “Dino’s in Lights.”
• Oversee the safe install of overhead décor and rigging as needed.
• Oversee the safe transportation of the Tiny Green Home departing and arriving at OSC.

Exhibits Manager

IT Support

• Responsible for the overall maintenance and repair of permanent and traveling exhibits at the Orlando Science Center.
• Start up or shut down OSC’s exhibits.
• Routinely performs general cleaning, dusting, and organizing of exhibit components, exhibit halls and shop.
• Proactively identify exhibit weak points and make recommendations to prevent exhibit downtime to the Manager of Exhibits.
• Troubleshoot and diagnose a range of technologies, including but not limited to PC’s, microcontrollers, input devices, A/V devices, projectors, solid state players, mechanical systems, relays, and software diagnostics.
• Follow established safety protocol when using tools, such as soldering iron, multimeter, and other various hand tools.
• Identify any exhibit safety issues and immediately report to the Manager of Exhibits.
• Document all work in a computer database.
• Able to work independently.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Exhibit Technician I

• Lead the Public Programs department at the Orlando Science Center.
• Oversee the operations for the Public Programming team and ensure high quality programming for OSC visitors.
• Lead a team of Full Time Science Program Interpreters, part-time staff, interns, and volunteers.
• Complete tasks with minimal supervision and demonstrate excellent customer service skills.
• Oversee project development for Full-Time Science Program Interpreters to ensure timely and quality content.
• Report regularly on project progress and oversee budgets and resource allocations as necessary.
• Oversee programming events throughout the year.
• Communicate updates and upcoming events within the organization to staff and visitors.
• Perform regular performance evaluations on team members and volunteers.
• Schedule, hire, and train staff and volunteers for the Public Programming department.
• Ensure all pertinent staff documents and training materials are updated as necessary.
• Ensure website contains accurate programmatic information.
• Manage the supplies and supply budget for the department.
• Represent the Orlando Science Center in a professional manner with all guests and staff.
• Work with Program Specialists to implement grant programming, specialty programming, or training for the Public Programming department.
• Safely operate OSC vehicle when delivering programs offsite.

Manager – Public Programs

Director

• Assisting the Preschool Director in the daily supervision and management of the Orlando Science Center Preschool (3-5 year) children and Preschool staff.
• Assist the Director to maintain the OSC Preschool program’s goals, objectives and standards set forth by the Orlando Science Center.
• Provide guidance and support systems for the Preschool’s children, families and staff.
• Represent the Preschool in the absence of the Preschool Director.
• Supervise Preschool Assistants including recruitment, training, coaching, monitoring, and evaluating of designated employees.
• Assist in maintaining Preschool documents related to enrollment, student files, and other administrative tasks.
• Exhibits proficiency in ticketing software including all preschool data input, data retrieval, report printing and billing.
• Tracking tuition payments and securing funds by following up on late payments.
• Assists with VPK attendance and assessments.
• Communicates effectively with children, caregivers and other staff.
