  • Planning and executing the Early Childhood education program in accordance with the goals and objectives set forth by the Orlando Science Center Preschool.
  • Instructing children (3-5 yr) in activities designed to promote social/emotional, physical, and intellectual growth.
  • Embraces STEM education in the curriculum approach.
  • Establishes clear objectives for lessons and communicates these to children.
  • Organizes and directs activities/materials to promote physical, mental, and social development.
  • Maintains safety and health standards of the classroom and outdoor environment.
  • Provides materials and resources for children to explore and manipulate during learning and play.
  • Prepares materials and classroom for activities.
  • Establishes and maintains rules of behavior and procedures in regard to class control.
  • Observes and evaluates a child’s performance, behavior, social development, and physical health.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Must be at least 21 years old and meet the requirements of the licensing agencies.
  • Education: A degree (Associate or above) in Child Development, Early Childhood, PreKindergarten – Primary, or Elementary education, Exceptional Student Education, Florida Child Care Professional Credential (FCCPC), Early Childhood Professional Certificate (ECPC), Florida Department of Education Child Care Apprenticeship Certificate (CCAC), certified National CDA is required.
  • Experience working with children 0 – 8 years old.
  • 45 hours DCF mandated childcare courses (provide a current DCF transcript).
  • Clear Level 2 Background screening.
  • Communication skills-presentation, public speaking and written.
  • Reliable, organized, self-starter.
  • Ability to work with little supervision.
  • Active listening, instructing, speaking, reading comprehension, learning strategies, writing, monitoring, and time management skills.
