About the role

  • As the Philanthropy Officer/Manager for the West Coast, responsible for identifying leads, cultivating major gift prospects, and stewarding relationships with existing donors.
  • Develop and manage a portfolio of 125+ major gift donors and prospects capable of giving five to seven-figure level gifts.
  • Develop comprehensive cultivation plans for all donors and prospects while setting stewardship plans toward long term sustainable partnership and growth.
  • Manage existing portfolio of donors and prospects using moves management in Salesforce.
  • Make compelling direct solicitations in-person and virtually.
  • Lead the development and production of our annual Impact Report, including gathering outcome data from program managers, writing compelling content, and collaborating with Communications team on design and publication.
  • Acknowledge major donors through public and private recognition.
  • Collaborate with organizational senior leadership regarding donor strategies.
  • Track and report progress using specific metrics and Salesforce.
  • Attend internal and external meetings, events, cultivation opportunities as needed.
  • Conceptualize, plan, and execute 3-5 donor salon events per year.
  • Conference and event support, including tabling at MAPS events.
  • Collaborate on essential administrative development tasks.
  • Schedule and lead meetings, lunches, and dinners to build relationships with major donors.
  • Capture pertinent donor interactions and update accurate proposals and projections in Salesforce.
  • Create proposals for donors and escalate and resolve areas of concern as raised by donors.
  • Cultivate new relationships with donor prospects and continually update donor prospect list in Salesforce.
  • Identify new leads and create strategy for approaching new donors; leverage current networks for growth.
  • Participate in strategic conferences, meetings, and events with high probability of active and new targets.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of major gifts ($10,000 / donor annually) experience required
  • Successful experience communicating with diverse groups of people and translating a charitable mission into creative, compelling, accessible proposals
  • Proven experience seeking, securing, and managing five-figure gifts and above
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
  • High level of discretion and ethical approach to fundraising
  • Proven ability to interact and influence philanthropic leaders
  • Experience motivating and managing high-profile volunteer leadership and senior executives
  • Proficiency using Salesforce or a similar CRM database for retrieving, organizing, researching, and presenting donor/prospect information and moves management
  • Proficiency with office software including Microsoft Office 365, Google Suite, document storage drives, and Asana or similar project management software
  • Successful experience interacting with high-net-worth individuals while maintaining confidentiality and discretion when working with sensitive information
  • Comfortable with working remotely and regular business-related travel for meetings
