About the role

  • Conceives and executes advertising consistent with the agreed strategy.
  • Responsible for original conceptions, clear, concise and convincing writing, and grammatical and material accuracy.
  • Sees work through to its production under the direction and approval of supervisor.
  • Works productively and harmoniously as a teammate with Art Directors and Producers.
  • Participates in and contributes to new business activities of the agency.
  • Complies to quality standards for the team as set forth by the department.
  • Works with supervisor to foster innovative solutions and builds relationships at appropriate client/vendor level.
  • Works closely with upper management to identify and suggest solutions to improve departmental and team morale.
  • Keeps abreast of current trends and the latest technological advances.
  • Develops concepts and/or storyboards, collaborating with Production as needed.
  • Meets with Account and Traffic to review work in progress and select concepts; presents and revises concepts/storyboards according to comments.
  • Revises recommendations based on client comments and shares approved recommendations with all departments.
  • Generates a Concept Estimate for client presentation (supervisor’s prior approval required).
  • Gives input to Traffic to generate Key-Date Schedule (supervisor’s prior approval required) and to prepare Formal Estimate.
  • Discusses paper with Production prior to ordering of samples and develops a Spec Sheet in Pre-production meeting.
  • Develops Copy Deck, seeks internal approval, sends final copy to Studio, and seeks approval on layout and mechanicals.
  • Assists Art Director and studio to generate mechanicals and prepares color breaks from color lasers generated from the disk.
  • Gives schedule updates to Traffic and briefs/presents the project team with key findings.
  • Participates in weekly departmental staff meetings and keeps supervisor apprised of the status of work.

Requirements

  • Talent, judgment and imagination to create ideas and words for the creation of an advertisement.
  • Knowledge of the mechanics of writing: punctuation, spelling, structure and organization of writing.
  • Schooling in creative writing or conceptual advertising.
  • Previous experience as Copywriter/Associate Copywriter.
  • Portfolio and reel required to demonstrate creative and technical skills.
  • Must have 1+ years of experience within an advertising agency setting.
  • Excellent communication skills both written and oral.
  • Computer literate.
  • Team player.
  • Strong problem solving skills and detail oriented.
  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent business experience preferred.
