About the role
- Serve as the strategic Surgical OU R&D IT Business Partner and primary liaison between IT and the Surgical R&D function
- Own IT Portfolio for Medtronic’s Global Surgical R&D, translating R&D strategy into a cohesive technology roadmap
- Champion modern engineering practices including Generative AI for software development
- Deliver programs that shorten product development cycles, reduce technical debt, and improve quality, security, and cost efficiency
- Collaborate with R&D leadership to understand business objectives and develop IT strategies that support these goals
- Manage IT projects and portfolio from inception to completion ensuring timelines, budgets, and business requirements are met
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders to align IT initiatives with business needs
- Support business operations to enable product development and customer-facing services
- Oversee delivery of IT solutions, ensuring effectiveness, efficiency, and adherence to service levels
- Identify opportunities for leveraging technology to drive innovation, with a focus on Digital Product Infrastructure
- Identify and mitigate risks associated with IT projects, including Cybersecurity and Product Security
- Manage relationships with external vendors and service providers
- Lead change management and value realization efforts to ensure adoption of new technologies and processes
- Monitor and report on performance of IT services and solutions
- Role may require up to 25% travel and onsite collaboration at Medtronic sites
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree
- 7+ years of experience with a bachelor’s degree or 5+ years of experience with an advanced degree
- 5+ years of managerial experience
- 5+ years of experience in an IT Business Partner or similar relevant role within a large, matrixed organization (strongly preferred)
- Previous experience in the medical device or healthcare industries (preferred)
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and executive-level influence skills
- Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders
- Excellent project management skills
- Strong understanding of IT services and processes
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Experience with change management and vendor management
- Demonstrated success acting as a business-facing IT leader partnering with R&D or product-development organizations
- Strong understanding of Medical Device R&D processes, related technologies, and business processes
- Demonstrated leadership with Generative AI tooling, R&D tools, DevOps tools or cloud-native architectures
- Ability to travel up to 25%
- Must work onsite approximately 4 days a week at listed Medtronic sites
