About the role
- Lead and execute fundraising strategy to support MDC’s $9-$10 million annual operating budget and strengthen long-term financial sustainability.
- Oversee development portfolio including individual and family foundation giving, grants, and donor campaigns; lead at least one major fundraising campaign annually.
- Build organizational capacity by establishing tools, systems, and processes for integrated fundraising across teams.
- Manage donor and funder relations, cultivate transformational donor relationships, and participate in board training and engagement.
- Ensure fundraising reporting, grant writing, compliance, and CRM data integrity.
- Collaborate with program staff to connect donors to MDC’s impact and initiatives.
- Shape fundraising messaging, cases for support, and campaign narratives; stay current on philanthropic trends; represent MDC externally.
- Lead donor engagement events and provide updates to senior leadership and the Board.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in business, communications, marketing, public relations, nonprofit management, or related field.
- Minimum of 7 years of progressive fundraising or donor engagement experience, preferably in a nonprofit setting.
- Demonstrated success meeting or exceeding revenue goals across diverse funding streams.
- Knowledge of the philanthropic landscape in the Southeast U.S.
- Proficiency with fundraising CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce, Bloomerang, DonorPerfect).
- CFRE certification or comparable professional training preferred.
- Active AFP membership preferred.
- Experience interpreting 990s, program budgets, and financial reports for donors.
- Deep experience in major gift cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship.
- Excellent project management and organizational skills; detail-oriented and proactive.
