About the role
- Support SEA Legal and NA Legal & Compliance teams focusing on legal research, contract review, reporting, and issue tracking
- Draft, prepare, and report legal findings to headquarters in Korea, primarily in Korean
- Research legal issues and deliver timely, concise written reports
- Review contracts and provide legal advice as needed
- Track weekly updates from SEA Legal and NA Legal & Compliance teams and stay on top of weekly updates from all groups
- Identify top issues, investigate background, progress, and plans
- Prepare weekly management reports on key topics
- Integrate with and support various business teams, including consumer and B2B divisions
- Prioritize and address important emails and issues promptly
- Serve as a legal generalist handling diverse topics (compliance, privacy, etc.)
- Interpret laws, rulings, and regulations and summarize cases and their application
Requirements
- JD from an accredited U.S. law school (required)
- LLM preferred, especially for candidates who graduated from law school in Korea and completed an LLM in the U.S.
- At least 3 years of legal counsel experience (in-house or law firm)
- Open to candidates with more experience, provided they are interested in the role
- Bilingual fluency in Korean and English (reading, writing, speaking)
- Strong writing and communication skills, especially in Korean
- Excellent verbal and written communication, attention to detail, and interpersonal skills
- Advanced knowledge of laws, legal codes, court procedures, precedents, and government regulations
- Ability to summarize complex legal matters and present findings clearly
- Bar admission in New Jersey preferred, but not required
