About the role

  • Provide technical guidance and leadership for mechanical systems engineering supporting the BWRX-300 SMR
  • Oversee project scheduling and resource planning and develop talent through mentorship
  • Act as point-of-contact between engineering team and internal/external customers
  • Perform system design activities: system design specifications, P&IDs, logic diagrams, process flow calculations and diagrams, hydraulic resistance calculations, equipment sizing, FMEA evaluations, thermodynamic and heat/fluid flow transfer
  • Responsible for analysis and design work supporting system requirements and specifications
  • Conduct component and product integration to ensure maximum performance and operability
  • Serve as a key member of the Systems Engineering leadership team responsible for technical and engineering deliverables to support plant design
  • Liaise with customers in partnership with engineering leadership and Project Management
  • Interface with cross-functional teams and departments to complete assigned system design activities
  • Improve project execution and department management through lean methodology and Design to Cost principles
  • Support development efforts for new products and new technology
  • Undertake corrective and preventive actions resulting from Quality noncompliance monitoring and audit programs

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Nuclear Engineering, or other relevant Engineering degree from an accredited university or college
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in a mechanical systems or design engineering role
  • Eligibility to access U.S. export-controlled information; ability to obtain authorization if applicable
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States
  • SRO license qualifications or plant experience desired
  • Radiation waste experience preferred
  • Master's degree in an engineering or technical discipline (desired)
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Knowledge of working within a regulated environment (nuclear)
  • Knowledge of quality standards and systems (e.g., NQA-1 and ISO 9000)
  • Experience and/or interest in nuclear power industry
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines and cope under pressure
  • Ability to effectively function in a dynamic design environment and manage multiple tasks and projects
  • Familiarity with systems engineering practices and design-to-cost/lean methodology
