About the role
- Provide technical guidance and leadership for mechanical systems engineering supporting the BWRX-300 SMR
- Oversee project scheduling and resource planning and develop talent through mentorship
- Act as point-of-contact between engineering team and internal/external customers
- Perform system design activities: system design specifications, P&IDs, logic diagrams, process flow calculations and diagrams, hydraulic resistance calculations, equipment sizing, FMEA evaluations, thermodynamic and heat/fluid flow transfer
- Responsible for analysis and design work supporting system requirements and specifications
- Conduct component and product integration to ensure maximum performance and operability
- Serve as a key member of the Systems Engineering leadership team responsible for technical and engineering deliverables to support plant design
- Liaise with customers in partnership with engineering leadership and Project Management
- Interface with cross-functional teams and departments to complete assigned system design activities
- Improve project execution and department management through lean methodology and Design to Cost principles
- Support development efforts for new products and new technology
- Undertake corrective and preventive actions resulting from Quality noncompliance monitoring and audit programs
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Nuclear Engineering, or other relevant Engineering degree from an accredited university or college
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in a mechanical systems or design engineering role
- Eligibility to access U.S. export-controlled information; ability to obtain authorization if applicable
- Legally authorized to work in the United States
- SRO license qualifications or plant experience desired
- Radiation waste experience preferred
- Master's degree in an engineering or technical discipline (desired)
- Strong leadership skills
- Knowledge of working within a regulated environment (nuclear)
- Knowledge of quality standards and systems (e.g., NQA-1 and ISO 9000)
- Experience and/or interest in nuclear power industry
- Ability to work to tight deadlines and cope under pressure
- Ability to effectively function in a dynamic design environment and manage multiple tasks and projects
- Familiarity with systems engineering practices and design-to-cost/lean methodology
