About the role
- Serve as primary quality interface between Raytheon (RTX) and external mechanical supply base
- Communicate requirements and performance feedback to suppliers and relay quality information internally
- Execute Supplier Assessments, Supplier Engagements, Special Process Management, Contract Review/Requirement Flowdowns, and First Article Validation
- Facilitate problem resolution using Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA), meeting facilitation, and continuous improvement activities
- Drive supplier performance management and development
- Interpret purchase order quality notes and quality requirements to ensure subcontractor/supplier understanding
- Ensure flow down of product requirements to sub-tier suppliers and compliance with quality requirements
- Assess subcontractor/supplier quality capabilities throughout program life cycle
- Identify supplier risk and systemic performance issues and ensure root-cause analysis and corrective solutions with closure plans
- Drive continuous product/process improvements using Six Sigma and lean methodologies
- Work with other Quality functions and Cross Business Teams to rapidly close issues
- Ensure Subcontract Data Requirements List deliverables are met and support First Article Verification and Source Inspection
- Represent RTX values and support company strategy in the supply base
- Role focused on mechanical suppliers primarily in the U.S. Northeast with regular supplier travel (primarily MA)
Requirements
- Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM)
- Minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience (working in Quality or Supplier Management and/or manufacturing)
- Experience with Root Cause Corrective Action processes - RCCA
- Experience with hardware inspection techniques and technical drawing interpretation
- Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance (DoD Clearance: Secret)
- U.S. citizenship is required
- Travel 3 days a week to local suppliers primarily in Massachusetts, with occasional overnights
- Position expected to be 40 hours per week
- Experience with First Article Verification and Source Inspection
- Preferred: Six Sigma, Lean and/or ASQ Certification (CQE, CQM/OE, CSQE, CQA, CRE, etc.)
- Preferred: Previous experience with commercial and/or aerospace/defense regulations and standards (AS9100, AS9102, ISO-9000, AS9145)
- Preferred: Experience utilizing APQP, PPAP, SPC, FMEA, Control Plans, MSA, etc.
- Preferred: MS Engineering/Technical or MBA; mechanical-type discipline preferred
- Preferred: Proven success building and maintaining relationships with multiple suppliers/customers
- Preferred: Experience in DoD product and process oversight including requirements, build, integration, test and delivery
- Preferred: General Statistical Process Control knowledge and general knowledge of industry technical standards (ANSI, CMMI, ASTM, etc.)
- Strong communication skills and ability to work remotely
