About the role
- Translate, analyze, and prioritize customer needs, contractual requirements, and company policy into quality performance standards and operational definitions
- Integrate performance and conformance verifications (First Articles, audits) throughout value stream processes to prevent quality escapes and assure on-time delivery
- Perform analysis of nonconformities to characterize causes and develop containment and elimination plans
- Lead and mentor a team of Quality engineers and provide project status to Operations and Program Quality Leadership teams
- Baseline factory metrics (Scrap, Rework, FPY, TUH, etc.), identify top drivers and forecast future demand
- Engage manufacturing teams to drive containment, Root Cause Analysis and Corrective Action Implementation
- Perform process walks, operator observations, and lead manufacturing team discussions to drive process enhancements and reduce variation
- Standardize data entry to improve data analysis cycle time
- Lead/Drive Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) initiatives (PFMEA, control Plans, SPC)
- Identify supplier escapes/issues and ensure proper containment and backflow to Supplier Quality Management
- Calculate Return on Investment (ROI) for CI project opportunities and get alignment from Program and Manufacturing teams
- Perform verification and validation of improvements and identify opportunities to leverage improvements across similar processes/assemblies
Requirements
- Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance
- U.S. citizenship required
- DoD Clearance: Secret
- Typically requires a Bachelor of Science in Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) or other technical field of study
- Advanced Degree in a related field may be acceptable with reduced experience requirement
- Minimum 8 years prior relevant experience (or minimum 6 years with Advanced Degree)
- Minimum of 8 years related Quality, Operations, or Engineering experience
- Manufacturing process knowledge (assembly, inspection, test)
- Experience with industry technical standards
- Experience in identifying root cause and initiating/implementing effective short-term and long-term corrective actions
- Experience in development/usage of Quality metrics to drive root cause and long-term corrective action
- Experience with perceptive verifications
- Demonstrated knowledge of key process characteristics and ability to implement effective process control techniques (preferred)
- Strong familiarity with ISO 9001 and/or AS9100 quality management systems (preferred)
- CORE, Six Sigma, Shainin Red X, ASQ Certifications (preferred)
- Proficient in the use of pareto analysis, cause/effect diagrams, process mapping (preferred)
- Experienced in Product/Process Failure Modes & Affects Analysis (PFMEA), control plans, SPC (preferred)
- Regression Analysis, Measurement System Analysis and Design of Experiments (preferred)
- Able to facilitate cross-functional teams in systematic improvement activities (e.g. 6-sigma, lean manufacturing) (preferred)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
- Understanding of MRP and Shop Floor Management Tools (PRISM, VM)
- Experience interpreting drawings, work instructions, Bill of Materials (BOMs), consumable materials control, process disciplines and tool control
- Previous experience managing cross functional process improvement teams with technical expertise
