About the role
- Directs and coordinates material planning, distribution, inventory control, material research, purchasing and supply chain management
- Manages staff involved in distribution of inventory to production line and achieves materials profit and loss goals
- Ensures timely delivery of materials at the most economical cost and maintains quality standards
- Identifies suspicious material and ensures proper handling, storage, and delivery
- Negotiates customer expectations and ensures high degree of customer satisfaction
- Coordinates with customers, purchasing, project managers, operations managers, and warehouse managers
- Oversees inventory cycle counts, controls, and disposition of excess and obsolete materials
- Reviews, plans, and approves purchase orders, change notices, purchase order claims and contracts
- Develops, implements, and maintains policies, procedures and material control systems
- Provides for proper shipping and documentation of finished goods
- Reports to the General Manager and travels as required
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent related experience and training
- Minimum of 8 years of material and manufacturing experience, including supervision
- Experience in material planning, distribution, inventory control, purchasing and supply chain management
- Ability to direct and coordinate staff and activities
- Experience with inventory cycle counts and material control systems
- Experience reviewing and approving purchase orders and change notices
- Ability to coordinate with customers, purchasing, project managers, operations, and warehouse managers
- Ability to manage disposition of excess and obsolete materials
- Ability to travel as required
