About the role

  • Work in FHI 360’s MEEWA Hub, supporting francophone country offices and reporting to CFO office.
  • Support all accounting functions including month end close processes, bank account reconciliations and cash management for projects within West Africa, Eastern Europe and Middle East.
  • Support yearly audit of FHI 360 for MEEWA region and OHADA audit for West Africa francophone countries; serve as Audit POC for MEEWA Hub.
  • Review procedures for country office month end processes, respond to inquiries, assist trainings, troubleshoot field accounting questions, advise and assist country offices with monthly close, labor allocation, bank account reconciliations.
  • Serve as reviewer/approver for monthly reconciliations including bank reconciliations, cash requests.
  • Monitor and analyze accounting team performances related to monthly close and develop more efficient procedures.
  • Ensure country office accounting business practices are adequate, documented, and compliant with internal and external requirements.
  • Provide live and virtual trainings on accounting systems and processes; provide guidance and mentoring.
  • Meet with field staff to understand business processes and identify improvement opportunities.
  • Apply accounting principles and practices, perform complex, specialized accounting functions and independently resolve complex accounting, tax and legal requirements in foreign jurisdictions.
  • Lead employee growth and development initiatives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or its International Equivalent - Accounting, Business Administration, Finance or Related Field.
  • 5+ years of accounting experience in public accounting firm or a large company.
  • Substantial experience using computerized information systems.
  • Must be able to read, write and speak fluent English and French skills
  • Prior team lead experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience preferred.
