About the role

  • Coordinate financial/accounting operations, including overall financial monitoring and support/guidance to finance and operations staff
  • Provide financial management and guidance, conduct analyses of financial data, provide budget analyses for project funds, and review and prepare required reports to funding agencies to ensure compliance with donor requirements
  • Strengthen internal controls, review bank and cash GFAS, daily financial data entry, prepare monthly bank reconciliations, track balance sheet accounts, maintain workbooks accounts
  • Check payment claims for compliance with FHI 360 policy & procedures, donors, and in-country law; ensure proper coding and authorization
  • Monitor cash & bank flows daily, coordinate with financial institutions, safeguard cash, and arrange alternative banking if needed
  • Assist Field Office & Country Office finance teams during internal & external audits and donor-specific audits
  • Maintain relationships with partners and support financial implementation through partners
  • Escalate financial risks and fraud activities to Finance & Admin Coordinator and Deputy Response Coordinator, Operations
  • Confirm procurement payments have necessary documentation as per procurement policies
  • Ensure all financial transactions have required supporting documents

Requirements

  • 3-5 years of experience providing progressively responsible accounting, finance, and operational management experience in a government contracting environment coupled with internal control reviews.
  • University degree in Finance, Accounting or a similar subject area.
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Access) and HRIS /Payroll systems.
  • Vocational or specialized training desired.
  • Prior work experience in a non-governmental organization (NGO) desirable but not required.
  • Fluent in local language and excellent in English.
