About the role

  • Reports to the Chief Impact Officer and collaborates across the organization to define and implement cross-functional strategy initiatives.
  • Leads projects on behalf of senior leadership to achieve organizational goals and objectives.
  • Builds, develops, and grows partnerships vital to project success.
  • Manages operational and tactical aspects of multiple projects in a matrix environment from initiation to completion.
  • Manages and oversees project development, may manage projects through others by building capacity and supporting implementation of project activities.
  • Provides guidance and monitoring for project staff, ensuring clarity over project plans and priorities and encouraging effective teamwork.
  • Develops best practices and tools for project execution and management; defines project scope, goals, and deliverables.
  • Coordinates development and delivery of project plans, documentation, training, presentations and budget proposals.
  • Identifies and resolves project issues and implements improvement plans to keep projects on schedule and within budget.
  • Manages development of project teams to ensure compliance with policies and implement process improvements.
  • Identifies partnerships and opportunities to present to management to help achieve strategic goals.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or its International Equivalent in Knowledge/Information Services, Communications, Education, Environment, Health, Behavioral, Life/Social Sciences International Development, Human Development or Related Field.
  • Master’s degree or its international equivalent preferred.
  • Project Management (PM) Certification required.
  • Change Management Certification preferred (Prosci or CCMP).
  • Typically requires 10+ years of relevant experience (including 3+ years of line management experience) with projects management principles and practices.
  • Experience working with project management tools such as JIRA, Asana, Smartsheet.
  • Experience in multi-functional/matrix management and implementation.
  • Experience in similar project management role supporting top level executives with organization wide initiatives and change management.
  • Experience in monitoring and evaluation as well as strategic planning, capacity building and team management.
  • Prior work experience in a non-governmental organization (NGO) preferred.
  • Demonstrated project, change and personnel management skills.
  • Strong knowledge of project management software and other technologies.
  • Strong negotiator and problem solver.
  • Ability to influence, motivate, and collaborate with others.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Must be able to read, write and speak fluent English.
  • Ability to travel less than 10% and perform typical office physical demands.
