About the role

  • Play a critical role in shaping the Eight Sleep mobile app experience to help users optimize their sleep and health
  • Collaborate closely with Product, Engineering, Brand, and Research & Development teams to craft high-quality, data-driven designs
  • Own end-to-end product design: information architecture, low-fidelity wireframes, high-fidelity mockups, and interaction patterns
  • Conduct usability studies and user interviews and use qualitative and quantitative data to validate designs
  • Iterate on designs to improve app experience, reduce churn, and increase engagement
  • Build, document, and organize UI components and maintain the design library/system for consistency across the app and brand
  • Align with Product and Brand stakeholders and present design updates to C-suite leadership for feedback and approval
  • Serve as the subject matter expert for app design patterns and interactions and stay up-to-date on mobile design trends and best practices
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Product, and Marketing teams to ship products and features that increase membership value and support hardware innovations

Requirements

  • 4+ years experience in UX and UI, with a strong portfolio including live mobile examples
  • You’ve shipped your designs to public users and have data that proves either success or failure
  • Able to consider the technical implications of design decisions and find the right balance between new user value and technical effort
  • Experience coaching junior designers and collaborating closely with Product Managers and Engineers
  • Obsessed with simplicity and have a high-quality bar for the aesthetics in your design
  • Thrive as an independent thinker and can manage the design process from end to end in ambiguous environments
  • Able and flexible to iterate fast and often
  • Confident in writing clear agendas and decks, and presenting design evolutions to C-Suite leadership
  • Open to occasional travel to other office locations (San Francisco, Milan)
  • Excited about building a fast-growing brand into an iconic company
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related design field or equivalent experience
  • Bonus points:
  • Having built iconic, consumer-facing mobile apps at small and mid-size tech startups (with the data & reviews to prove it)
  • Experience designing mobile apps for Android
