About the role
- Explain the company’s technical product specifications to customers and advise on purchasing decisions
- Close opportunities and fill the pipeline with new opportunities
- Conduct thorough market research and analyze competitor offerings
- Gather customer feedback and manage and grow the sales territories
- Conduct in-depth product demonstrations, predominantly in person
- Discuss equipment needs and system requirements with customers and engineers
- Collaborate with sales personnel to understand customer requirements and provide sales support
- Generate high-quality sales leads, follow up, secure and renew orders, negotiate prices, complete sales, and arrange deliveries
- Evaluate, problem solve, and define products to meet customers’ technical requirements
- Assist customers with problems with installed products and recommend upgrades
- Solicit and log client feedback and evaluate data to create new sales and marketing strategies in Salesforce CRM
- Achieve sales goals and company set quotas
- Train other sales team members on technical aspects
- Keep up to date with product specs and industry trends
- Attend conferences and workshops to improve skills
- Write reports and liaise with product management regarding issues and solutions
- Maintain strong professional relationships with clients and expand sales territories
- Update orders and sales and negotiate contract terms
- Travel up to 85% to provide demonstrations, training and support
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, marketing, business administration, or similar preferred
- Experience in sales and the technology/utility field preferred
- Strong customer service, analytical, and interpersonal skills
- Excellent organizational, research and multitasking abilities
- Strong negotiating and problem-solving skills
- Able to understand and speak English fluently (required)
- Able to understand and speak Spanish fluently (desirable)
- A valid driver’s license
- Able to be approved to secure DOT approval to drive company vehicles
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds at times
