Assigned to 2–4 institutes and serve as a key collaborator with leaders, administrators, physicians, researchers, and other stakeholders
Identify and develop high-quality invention disclosures for new medical technologies and products
Engage with caregivers to learn about their intellectual property and educate them on IP policy and the inventor process
Guide inventors on how to engage with the Innovations office and help complete invention disclosure forms
Support the evaluation of technologies disclosed to the office and connect inventors with Innovations resources
Create and maintain relationships with key stakeholders and inventors based on operational metrics
Function as an Innovations resource for service area leadership and inventors; provide education and support innovations related training programs
Facilitate and improve inventor communication and engagement; assist in facilitating structured Innovations sessions
Track and report on inventor engagement (frequency and diversity of contacts) through a CRM system
Perform casing responsibilities, learn and utilize software systems, and integrate with all Innovations teams
Uphold compliance with regulatory requirements in all areas of operations
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in life or physical sciences, biomedical engineering, finance, business, or related field and five years of relevant experience in health care industry (medical devices, therapeutics, diagnostics, HIT)
OR Master’s degree in a relevant field and three years of experience
OR Doctorate degree in a relevant field and two years of experience
Strong work ethics
Excellent marketing and negotiation skills
Ability to communicate effectively with academic and corporate sectors and comprehend details of new and diverse technologies
Understanding of the evolving healthcare world
Preferred: Master’s degree or Doctorate degree
Preferred: Digital background (understanding the digital landscape in healthcare) – trends in AI
Preferred: Life sciences background with the ability to effectively engage in discussions with researchers
Manual dexterity to operate office equipment; may require periods of sitting, standing and the ability to walk to various locations
Must have normal or corrected vision and be able to clearly communicate verbally by phone or in person
Follow Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required
Must clear testing for controlled substances and nicotine within 90-day new hire period
Required to comply with Cleveland Clinic Health System influenza prevention program (annual vaccination or approved exemption)
