About the role
- Provide legal support activities related to legal operations, litigation/discovery/settlements or negotiation and contract administration
- Maintain content within the inventory based on ticket requests received, control execution and special projects
- Manage execution, review, processing and tracking of legal documentation and records; execute transactions and complete varied work requests with tight deadlines
- Participate in legal programs and projects to achieve coordinated and efficient process improvements and legal support solutions
- Liaise with other control/functional businesses in support of initiatives
- Interact with senior leaders, internal and external peers to gather information and determine legal solutions
- Stay informed of regulatory changes, internal policy changes and developments in the law
- Conduct independent research, investigations and analysis to support identification of legal solutions or formulate approach/strategy
- Apply in-depth understanding of risk differences by product and jurisdiction and provide advice to Risk and business partners
- Assess risk appropriately, escalate/manage/report control issues, and drive compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations
Requirements
- 6-10 years of relevant industry experience, preferably with some experience working in an in-house legal role within financial services
- Ability to manage complex documentation with organization and detail
- Must possess excellent interpersonal and project management skills
- Ability to interact and communicate effectively with Senior management
- Proficient in Microsoft Office: Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook
- In-depth knowledge of legal customs and practices
- Knowledge and understanding of the financial services industry
- Bachelors/University degree required; Master’s degree preferred
