About the role
- Design and program microcontroller circuits integrated into 3D printed cases and silicone medical trainers
- Work with a team of design engineers, 3D printing specialists, medical artists, research scientists, and clinical investigators
- Develop custom electromechanical devices to meet varied requests from the hospital and research facilities
- Overcome technical difficulties and troubleshoot solutions
- Learn the daily routines of healthcare/research investigators and foster career interests in healthcare/research
- Complete Cincinnati Children's training and adhere to safe work practices and Core Standards
- Comply with policies protecting patient rights for informed consent and handling of confidential information
Requirements
- Must be currently enrolled in a degree granting college program
- Microcontroller programming: Arduino-based coding (Arduino IDE, Python, etc.)
- Raspberry Pi and MATLAB programming (coding a plus)
- DC circuit design at the component level and ability to assemble/solder
- Electronic component integration into custom cases/hardware
- Experience with hand tools
- General building skills
- Safety-minded
- 3D printing experience
- STEM program involvement
- Willingness to troubleshoot technical issues and find solutions
- Complete Cincinnati Children's training required for the position
- Comply with policies and procedures protecting patient rights and handling confidential information as defined by Cincinnati Children's mission and applicable laws and regulations
