About the role
- Paralegal support to the OGC and assist LITB or IALB; support the company portfolio.
- Research and locate responsive information documents; identify relevant laws, judicial decisions, and legal articles.
- Perform typical Paralegal functions, including legal research; synopsizing transcripts; reviewing case related materials; identifying conflicting statements.
- Write preliminary drafts of legal memoranda and correspondence; assist in preparing draft legal documents, such as motions, briefs, memoranda of law, exhibits, etc.
- Conduct discovery review for relevancy and privilege; prepare privilege logs; maintain records of discovery.
- Assist in drafting preservation notices and litigation holds; design and transmit reports using case management databases.
- Analyze and interpret requests; conduct outreach to respond to discovery requests; prepare declarations.
- Scan materials to image files; conduct legal privilege reviews with FBI tools.
- Analyze documents and media files; apply redactions; review peers for accuracy; provide edits; support management and teamwork.
- Organize and maintain case notes, discovery plans, Excel metrics; enter data into OGC-LITB database.
- Prepare electronic/paper releases; provide professional customer service to DU customers.
- Prioritize projects; assist FBI representation in challenging situations; coordinate classification reviews; maintain collaboration with discovery team.
- Serve as consultant on privilege application; communicate with FBI employees; provide weekly statuses; conduct FBI system searches; support Legal Hold and governance tasks.
Requirements
- Requires paralegal certificate, or JD, or currently attending an ABA-accredited law school, having completed at least one year of study.
- At least two years of litigation paralegal experience is required; trial experience is very helpful.
- At least one year of experience in automated litigation support. Requires sound working knowledge of federal and state court systems, legal research procedures, and legal research resources.
- Requires excellent written and oral communication skills and thorough knowledge of legal research tools such as LEXIS and Westlaw.
- Must have hands-on familiarity with a variety of computer applications, including word processing, databases (such as document review and file management systems), spreadsheets, imaging, and hardware systems.
- Role also requires hands-on familiarity with ESI tools and knowledge of eDiscovery procedures and resources.
- The ability to consistently deliver the highest quality work under extreme pressure will be very important.
