About the role
- Conduct electronic and paper filing with courts, agencies, tribunals. Assist with court/administrative hearings, including travel to hearing locations Assist with preparing pleadings, motions and other litigation instruments. Assist with e-discovery; manage and control electronic and paper case materials. Proofread, check accuracy of quotes and citation formats in legal documents. Review documents and conduct factual analysis; conduct factual research. Summarize legal documents and data; create compilations. Assist with preparing reports, correspondence and litigation papers. Review local court rules and identify filing requirements and deadlines. Assist attorneys with depositions, trials, mediations, arbitrations or other forms of ADR Draft and submit FOIA requests to state and federal agencies.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree and minimum of three years of relevant litigation experience. Experience in/knowledge of California federal and state court filing requirements, procedures and systems. Unrestricted ability and flexibility to travel to Los Angeles, California for court/administrative hearings Familiarity with major e-discovery platforms such as CasePoint or Relativity. Computer proficiency, with working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Excellent analytical and organizational skills. Ability to retrieve and distribute print volumes, push and pull packages and books weighing up to 30 pounds, and ability to retrieve objects from shelves of up to 8 feet high and replace same. Paralegal certificate a plus.
