Legal Assistant

• Assist with all phases of litigation regarded opioid cases, and other high-profile cases litigated by this office.

• CGS is seeking a Law Clerk to join our team supporting the legal mission of a large federal agency.
• This position will allow candidates to demonstrate expertise in providing litigation support tasks like cite checking, document review, and legal research.
• Works under the direction of a Project Supervisor or Project Manager.
• Performs complex legal research for the trial staff.
• Assists in preparing draft legal documents, such as motions, briefs, memoranda of law, etc.
• Reviews and conducts research for ROI (Release of Information).
• Edits previously submitted final decisions and writes/researches legal opinions on newest case.
• Assisting attorneys with all phases of litigation.
• Cite checking via online legal research tools (Westlaw and Lexis) and blue book.

• Lead operational oversight of information technology and data systems workflows from intake through final delivery
• Manage and coordinate a team of approximately 30 professionals across multiple operational functions

• Receive, review, and analyze new and backlogged Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests.
• Intake incoming requests and prepare FOIA request folders.
• Enter request data in the FOIA tracking database.
• Draft response letters and other FOIA correspondence.
• Communicate and initiate negotiations with requesters, FOIA staff, sponsors (or regulated industry representatives), and contractors pertaining to records requested and associated information to be released.
• Serve as a liaison with requesters, and on rare occasions, other agencies and appellants, regarding records that may involve more than one (1) agency component/office.
• Coordinate searches for responsive documents and identify duplicate records.

• Oversee all accounting operations, including general ledger, A/R, A/P, and monthly close
