Provides in-house legal counsel on employment matters, including employee relations, wage and hour laws, workers’ compensation, physician employment agreements and policy issues
Advises on regulatory issues surrounding employment of physicians and operational complexities
Manages physician employment agreements across the enterprise including drafting, negotiating, and updating for new state legislation
Oversees litigation through all phases, including early resolution negotiations, coordinating discovery, and supervising outside counsel
Assists businesses in developing and implementing processes, procedures, and systems to promote risk avoidance and prevent litigation
Manages e-litigation/matter management system, contract automation tool, compilation of records and responsive information to subpoenas and other discovery, and litigation hold obligations
Identifies and analyzes legal issues, balancing risk and the Company’s business interests
Develops and conducts training on legal topics relevant to risk management
Responds promptly to the business while delivering efficient, high-quality legal service
Works on a wide range of projects with various levels within the organization
Requirements
Juris Doctorate (JD) from ABA accredited university
Membership in good standing of State Bar
4+ years legal experience with an emphasis in healthcare-based employment law and litigation
Excellent organization, prioritization and multitasking skills
Practical and effective problem-solving skills
Strong analytical, negotiation, and communication skills
Ability to exercise sound judgment and provide commercially focused legal advice
Exceptional attention to detail
Ability to interact effectively and collaboratively with executives, professionals, in-legal colleagues and outside counsel
Ability to work independently and within a team environment, both in person and virtually
Well-developed business experience supporting clients or advising on specialty law matters
Experience with healthcare laws and regulations (preferred)
Ability to perform occasional standing and walking; frequent sitting; frequent hand/finger movement; use office equipment; communicate verbally and in writing
