About the role
- Producing high-quality engineering drawings that support critical change proposals across naval projects
- Support operational capability of the New Zealand Defence Force (NZDF) Naval Fleet
- Work on meaningful, high-impact projects in a dynamic and collaborative environment
- Work alongside engineers, project managers, and technical authorities to bring complex solutions to life
- Contribute to process improvements, mentoring junior team members, and participating in technical investigations
- Coordinate across multiple projects and teams
Requirements
- Proficiency in CAD drafting (electrical or mechanical)
- Strong understanding of engineering documentation and drawing standards
- Experience with engineering change management processes
- Awareness of safety and risk assessment principles
- Ability to coordinate across multiple projects and teams
- Critical thinking and problem-solving mindset
- Effective communication and presentation skills
- Familiarity with defence or naval systems (preferred)
- Diploma or Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering (or related field)
- CAD certification or equivalent practical experience
- Knowledge of statutory design regulations and defence engineering standards
- Must be legally entitled to work in New Zealand
- Capable of obtaining a New Zealand Defence Force (NZDF) Security Clearance
