About the role
- Define and execute organizational data strategy in partnership with the CPO and CTO
- Personally lead development of predictive models, machine learning algorithms, and advanced statistical analysis for customer behavior, churn prediction, and personalization
- Build and develop internal data science capabilities and establish strategic contractor and vendor partnerships
- Establish methodologies and governance practices for data science and analytics
- Design and implement comprehensive business intelligence solutions using Power BI, Tableau, and advanced SQL
- Leverage web/app analytics platforms (Google Analytics, Adobe Analytics) to optimize customer journeys and measure campaign effectiveness
- Conduct deep-dive statistical analysis, hypothesis testing, and develop A/B testing frameworks and experimentation strategies
- Build data products that combine ML modeling with real-time optimization
- Oversee enterprise-scale data science infrastructure on AWS including model deployment, monitoring, and real-time scoring systems
- Partner with Product, Sales, and Strategic Partnerships to embed predictive models into core business processes and develop customer-facing analytics products
- Support enterprise implementations with sophisticated analytics and modeling capabilities
- Report directly to the President and Chief Product Officer
- Hands-on work building machine learning models while managing contractor relationships
Requirements
- 6-8 years of combined experience in data science, machine learning, and statistical analysis
- 3+ years in leadership roles building data capabilities
- Deep expertise in statistical modeling and ML algorithms
- Proficiency in Python and/or R
- Experience with AWS data services (SageMaker, EMR, Redshift)
- Experience with business intelligence tools (Power BI, Tableau)
- Advanced SQL skills
- Experience with web/app analytics platforms (Google Analytics, Adobe Analytics)
- Experience designing A/B testing frameworks and experimentation strategies
- Experience with model deployment, monitoring, and real-time scoring systems on AWS
- Experience embedding predictive models into products and business processes
- 5+ years driving revenue growth through data products, analytics, and optimization in e-commerce, digital advertising, or loyalty platforms
- Strong communication skills with ability to present complex statistical concepts to C-level executives and external stakeholders
- Experience managing contractor relationships, vendor partnerships, and cross-functional collaboration
- Preferred: Degree in data science, statistics, computer science, or related quantitative field
- Preferred: Experience in loyalty/rewards platforms, financial services, or customer data platforms
- Preferred: Track record of thought leadership (industry speaking, publications, or open-source contributions)
