About the role
- Manages project implementation with assigned project teams and follows all company policies and operating procedures.
- Initiates projects by developing proposals/scopes of work and project budgets; completes project initiation documents including detailed scope, budget, and schedule.
- Supervises and directs technical staff and assists in training and technical development of staff.
- Consults with technical staff and Project Managers on drinking water technical challenges; provides independent technical reviews.
- Oversees technical accuracy by reviewing plans, specifications, reports, and calculations to ensure compliance with firm standards.
- Tracks project costs including labor and expenses and ensures timely client invoicing per company policy.
- Prepares proposals, participates in project interviews, attends public meetings, develops fee proposals, prepares contracts, and presents information to clients.
- Works on water, wastewater, and stormwater projects in the Massachusetts region.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering and 9+ years of related experience with increasing responsibility, or a master’s degree in a relevant field with 8+ years of related experience.
- Registered Professional Engineer or other Professional Registrations as appropriate for their primary field of expertise in State(s) where Apex does work or ability to obtain same by reciprocity.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with clients, staff, subconsultants and contractors through effective leadership, and demonstrated written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong understanding of state and federal regulatory framework and experience interacting with regulators in the local and technical areas where Apex does work.
- Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills and a strong desire to manage and mentor junior staff.
- Valid driver’s license is required.
- Ability and willingness to travel monthly to Massachusetts offices or client sites.
