About the role
- Serve as a freelance Spanish interpreter (1099 independent contractor) providing language access services.
- Accept and schedule on-site appointments Monday - Friday, 8 am - 5 pm based on availability.
- Interpret in medical, legal, educational, and other settings as needed.
- Set your availability, act as your own boss, and accept appointments based on your schedule.
- Contribute to language access and compassionate communication for clients with limited English proficiency.
- Appointments are not guaranteed and are offered based on need.
- Complete a skills assessment, background check, and onboarding to join the linguist network.
- Compensation starts at $25 - $35 per hour depending on availability, experience, and language demand.
Requirements
- Fluency in English and target language with a comprehensive understanding of idiomatic speech and cultural patterns.
- Previous interpreting experience, preferably in medical, legal, or educational settings.
- Demonstrated professionalism, punctuality, and adaptability in the workplace.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to operate basic communication
- Flexibility to work in different settings and adapt to various work environments.
- Must be located in and authorized to work in the US (We do not offer visa sponsorship).
- High School Diploma or equivalent; or certification in interpreting or related fields.
- Skills assessment and background check required during hiring process.
