About the role
- Lead the development aspects of IT projects for humanitarian missions, including analysis, enhancement, installation, testing, and modification of technology solutions
- Ensure projects are completed on time and within budget
- Work in collaboration with product managers, UX/service designers, business analysts, and business owners to clarify, prioritize, and document user stories, scenarios, personas, and problems to be solved
- Lead a team of developers and provide coaching and guidance to ensure their success
- Prepare activity and progress reports for projects, tasks, and operations
- Manage vendor partnerships for outsourced projects and support work
- Migrate legacy applications to cloud-first and API-first applications leveraging multiple technologies
- Convert user stories into technical designs and prototypes
- Provide IT application support after hours and on weekends during major disasters
- Work remotely from home on an East Coast schedule (core hours 8am–5pm)
Requirements
- Minimum 10 years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and related experience required
- At least 6 years of Microsoft Full Stack Development Experience
- At least 2 years of Lead or solution architecture experience
- 2+ years of experience working with Azure AI / Cognitive Services / Azure OpenAI
- Experience managing agile development teams, including sprint planning, user story estimation, prioritization, scrum-based leadership techniques, and retrospectives
- Demonstrated proficiency in collaboration and communication with business-led product teams and stakeholders
- Ability to build strong partnerships with product owners and managers to act as one product team driving toward mission outcomes
- Experience in API design, implementation, and/or operations
- Experience in .NET development using Entity Framework, web services, and SOA concepts
- Experience with Git, Confluence, and JIRA
- Possesses excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to explain the design of the system and system architecture
- Ability to work East Coast core hours (8am – 5pm) and provide after-hours/weekend IT application support during major disasters
- Qualified candidates must be authorized to work in the United States; American Red Cross does not sponsor employment visas
