About the role

  • Bridge business strategy with technical innovation; translate complex technologies into strategic opportunities.
  • Build and execute go-to-market strategy to scale sales, partnerships, and revenue growth.
  • Research and prospect for target customers and generate an evergreen pipeline.
  • Identify budgeted requirements and opportunities and introduce company to key stakeholders.
  • Build processes, tools, and strategies to scale the BD and sales function.
  • Forge critical relationships across defense and commercial markets and navigate large organizations.
  • Support negotiations and structure BD agreements to maximize company outcomes.
  • Work hands-on in an early-stage, founder-led environment, validating technology in real-world operations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, marketing, or related field (MBA or advanced degree preferred).
  • At least 7+ years of proven experience in BD leadership roles within the Defense industry.
  • Ability to articulate product growth in commercial and government markets and describe capture approaches.
  • Demonstrated track record of establishing net-new industry relationships.
  • Demonstrated track record of supporting an enterprise in receiving non-dilutive funding.
  • Relevant sell-side and/or buy-side experience.
  • Negotiated different types of BD agreements to maximize outcomes.
  • Navigated large, complex organizations from deal start to finish.
  • Prior success in early-stage “pre chasm” sales environments, preferably working directly with founders.
  • Deep understanding of technologies, industry trends, and competitive landscapes.
  • Ability to explain technical benefits to engineers and executives.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to motivate and develop a high-performing team.
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance.
