About the role

  • Act as the CEO's strategic extension: research emerging technologies, analyze DoD contract data, and prepare investor/board materials.
  • Lead high-impact projects (scenario planning, partnership exploration) aligned with product-market fit and expansion goals.
  • Audit operational gaps and develop processes for contract compliance (CMMC, ITAR), budgeting, and vendor management.
  • Implement tools and workflows (OKRs, milestone tracking) to maintain momentum on DoD deliverables.
  • Coordinate DoD interactions: demos, progress reports, stakeholder management, and field pilot feedback.
  • Facilitate cross-functional alignment: team syncs, track company-wide metrics (e.g., burn rate vs milestones), and manage CEO priorities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Operations, Engineering, or a related field (Master's or MBA preferred).
  • 4-7+ years in operations, strategy consulting, military leadership, or CoS/operations in startups.
  • Demonstrated success building processes from the ground up in fast-growth, ambiguous settings.
  • Exposure to DoD or similar regulatory navigation (CMMC, ITAR) and experience with DoD contracts.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making under pressure; high agency and adaptability.
  • Excellent communication skills; ability to distill complex DoD requirements and synthesize data into clear insights.
  • Proficiency with tools like Asana and Notion; familiarity with compliance frameworks.
  • Military background or security clearance is a significant advantage.
