About the role
- Formulate grant and study budgets, enter documentation, secure approvals, and establish research project control.
- Authorize expenses on grant studies and related departmental or project study accounts.
- Process check requests, travel documents, purchase orders, blanket orders, invoice statements, and other accounting documents.
- Record, maintain and process functions related to accounting equipment.
- Process payroll and appointments for academic and staff personnel; maintain departmental personnel files and assist with benefits administration.
- Assist supervisors with hiring: job requisitions, PHS entry, and appointment screening.
- Supervise staff responsible for purchasing, payroll and/or accounting (may supervise).
- Distribute and screen mail; copy documents for distribution and signature.
- Communicate with labs regarding open obligations and assist with purchase orders and expense reports.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent high school certification or combination of education and/or experience.
- Accounting / Bookkeeping experience: 5 Years.
- Some college-level accounting coursework preferred.
- Preferred: Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Business.
- Skills: Accounting, Accounting Software, Benefits Administration, Communication, Document Processing, Financial Accounting Systems, Interpersonal Interactions, Mail Services, Organizing, Payroll, Supervision.
- Certifications: No specific certification required for this position.
- Driver's License: Not required.
