About the role

  • Process full cycle semi-monthly, multi-state U.S. payroll, including sensitive and off-cycle payroll and timesheet validation
  • Conduct pre- and post-processing audits (timesheets, registers, adjustments, leave plans, 401(k) funding, deductions/earnings amounts and codes)
  • Partner with payroll provider and state agencies for tax registrations, filings, notice resolution, and compliance
  • Manage garnishments, liens, and child support deductions and communicate updates to employees
  • Support administration of health, disability, retirement (401k), and wellness programs
  • Assist with new hire benefits orientation, open enrollment, and compliance reporting (including 1094/1095-C, nondiscrimination testing)
  • Partner with brokers and vendors to resolve billing and reconciliation issues
  • Provide timely, clear responses to payroll and benefits-related employee questions
  • Report to Sr. Manager, People Operations and collaborate across People Team and Finance

Requirements

  • 3+ years of payroll administration experience (multi-state strongly preferred)
  • Benefits administration exposure is a plus
  • Familiarity with Paylocity and HiBob or similar HRIS systems
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. payroll compliance (state pay laws, FLSA, FMLA, COBRA, ERISA)
  • Strong Excel skills and comfort with Google Workspace and AI tools
  • Experience using AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT) as part of workflow
  • High degree of attention to detail, organizational skills, and customer-service mindset
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate across People, Finance, and external partners
  • Ability to identify and respond to shifting priorities while meeting deadlines
  • Stay up-to-date with federal, state, and local payroll and benefits laws and regulations
  • Must be fully vaccinated before any in-person meetings unless exempt
