About the role
- Establishing a strong Extension and applied research program to support the livestock and agricultural marketing needs of state and local communities.
- Develop an innovative applied research and Extension program that advances applied economic analysis of livestock and agricultural marketing and supports economic vitality of Wyoming’s agricultural producers and rural communities.
- Engage with diverse stakeholders including producers, agribusinesses, industry organizations, government agencies, and policymakers to co-create solutions that enhance profitability, market access, and long-term sustainability.
- Disseminate research results through scholarly journal articles, Extension publications, and presentations to academic, industry, and stakeholder audiences.
- Secure external funding to support their program and collaborate with faculty in Animal Sciences, Plant Sciences, and Ecosystem Science and Management on interdisciplinary Extension and research projects.
- Mentor MS students in Agricultural and Applied Economics and serve on graduate thesis committees in related fields.
- Potentially teach a course at the graduate or undergraduate level (in-person or online) depending on interest and department needs.
- Provide service to support governance of the Department, College, University, and Extension, and participate in appropriate professional societies.
Requirements
- Ph.D. by time of hire in Agricultural Economics, Economics, or closely related field
- Demonstrated interest, coursework, experience, or focus in agricultural marketing, livestock economics, or highly related area.
- Experience in applied economic analysis of agricultural markets, including price analysis, risk management, or value-added marketing.
- Demonstrated potential to publish in peer-reviewed academic journals.
- Excellent communication skills appropriate for technical and non-technical audiences.
- Experience working with agricultural producers, industry partners, and other stakeholders.
- Demonstrated potential to effectively collaborate on disciplinary and multidisciplinary teams.
