About the role
- - Own the end-to-end lifecycle of Gene Synthesis products and services from strategy and roadmap development to launch, iteration, and retirement.
- Drive product strategy through deep understanding of customer needs, competitive landscape, and emerging trends in synthetic biology, identifying opportunities for differentiation, growth, and geographic expansion.
- Translate market insights into actionable plans, including customer segmentation, pricing models, product positioning, and go-to-market strategies that increase market share and customer satisfaction.
- Develop and prioritize clear product requirements, collaborating with R&D, operations, commercial, and digital teams to deliver scalable, high-quality services that solve real customer problems.
- Lead cross-functional project teams to introduce new products, optimize existing workflows, and champion continuous improvement across the Gene Synthesis portfolio, including turnaround time, quality, and customer experience.
- Act as the internal and external voice of the customer, representing product priorities with stakeholders, supporting sales enablement efforts, and participating in key customer discussions and industry events.
- Operate with high autonomy in a matrixed, fast-paced environment—balancing short-term execution with long-term vision—while upholding our Core Values and commitment to excellence.
Requirements
- - Ph.D. in Molecular Biology or related Life Science degree preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in Molecular Biology, synthetic biology or related life sciences discipline (Required)
- 3 years of prior experience as Product Manager or involvement in the successful development or commercialization of new products (Preferred)
- Demonstrated leadership and partnering skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to deliver scientific podium presentations and generally communicate at peer to peer level with customers.
- Ability to work effectively across a large organization and ability to interact with all levels of management.
- Experienced and effective communicator in high level customer interactions, including sensitive negotiating and support situations.
- Ability to prioritize multiple projects and activities.
- Strong problem-solving skills and willingness to tackle new challenges.
- Ability to lead teams to overcome issues.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to perform under stress when confronted with emergent, critical, unusual situations, or situation in which working speed and sustained attention are make-or-break aspects of the job.
