About the role
- Provide leadership and oversight of the team responsible for delivering the Gilgan Family Queensway Health Centre project on behalf of the organization
- Directly oversee and administer key consultants, and contractor contracts, and act as day-to-day contact
- Manage the Ontario Ministry of capital planning process
- Coordinate and plan with other agencies having jurisdiction, including but not limited to the Ontario Health, City of Toronto, and Infrastructure Ontario
- Oversee a team that has the responsibility of delivering the project through to final completion and handover
- Work collaboratively with projects leaders overseeing other workstreams to ensure work is coordinated in line with project schedule and budget
- Advise on and support effective representative/cross functional governance structures
- Provide regular progress reporting to Management and Board of Directors on scope, schedule, risks and budget
- Plan, procure and oversee multi-disciplinary consulting expertise to achieve project goals
- Act as an organizational resource for health capital planning by offering expertise, advice and leadership as required
- Advocate for the application of best practice throughout all aspects of the project
- Support and lead a team who champion THP’s mission, vision and values in applying a high level of planning expertise and partner focus
Requirements
- University degree in a planning related field, preferably professional designation in architecture or engineering
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience managing a team
- Minimum of 12 years’ experience working in a hospital setting or with a hospital as a client
- Minimum 10 years’ experience working with the Ontario Ministry of Health’s capital planning process and/or Infrastructure Ontario’s AFP/P3 framework
- Experience in a hospital-based leadership role
- Extensive knowledge in the planning and design of health capital infrastructure
- Direct experience with AFP delivery models in Ontario, including implementation/construction of complex healthcare projects
- Detailed understanding of the health capital planning environment in Ontario, including experience working with Ministry of Health, Ontario Health, Infrastructure Ontario, municipalities, and/or other agencies having jurisdiction
- Experience in leadership and management of large-scale stakeholder engagement processes involving all aspects of hospital operations
- Broad knowledge of health care system design, related issues and trends, policies and up to date knowledge of relevant legislation, policies or practices
- Familiarity with contemporary thinking in health capital programming, planning and design, including international trends and best practice
- Experience working and communicating with senior leadership team and/board
- Strong project and management skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills
- Strong conceptual skills; systems thinking and ability to deal with ambiguity
- Superior analytical, problem solving, negotiation and conflict resolution skills
- Ability to build effective working relationships with a dynamic, professional team
- Demonstrated, skilled people management and staff development with emphasis on coaching, mentoring and leadership
