Plan, procure, and manage telecommunications facilities and services connecting worldwide event venues with ESPN in Bristol.
Procure and coordinate transportable and fixed satellite earth stations, satellite transponders, fiber circuits, voice and data circuits, encryption and compression technologies, and other telecom services.
Develop and manage cost budgets for each program delivery; prepare and maintain budgets of estimated and actual costs.
Approve accuracy and proper budget assignment of invoices for hired services and coordinate invoice/budget flow to financial departments.
Research, gather and integrate technical, operational and fiscal information from various departments to determine telecom requirements and costs.
Provide updates to relevant departments on technical, operational and cost status for each project.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of telecom services and equipment; ensure vendors meet ESPN technical and operational standards.
Oversee provision and management of on-site Network Traffic equipment at remote venues when required; provide on-site and on-call support for events.
Perform various special projects as assigned; periodic weekend and evening hours required.
Requirements
Minimum of two years of academic or workplace broadcasting or communications experience (strongly preferred).
Strong communications and interpersonal skills.
Organizational abilities; ability to maintain attention to detail.
Ability to work independently in a demanding deadline driven environment.
Travel, including passport-based international trips, required for assigned events.
Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays; availability for on-call support.
Basic knowledge of the technical equipment requirements of ESPN’s remote operations functions (preferred).
Basic understanding of the procurement aspects of the technical and operational equipment needed to carry out broadcasts (preferred).
