• Navigates TNC’s systems to record strategies and interactions with prospects.

Associate Director of Development – Corporation and Foundation Relations

• Lead TNC’s Colorado River Program in becoming a trusted and value-added partner working in support of Indigenous conservation priorities
• Manage Colorado River Program’s strategic conservation, policy, science, and community relations engagements with Tribal Nations in the Colorado River Basin
• Serve as a liaison with Indigenous nations, communities, and organizations and help to foster effective relationships
• Work with TNC teams across the Basin to build capacity and facilitate co-creation of mutually beneficial conservation projects
• Establish and execute overall water conservation and policy priorities with Tribal Nations in the Colorado River Basin

Program Manager, Colorado River Indigenous Partnerships

• Direct tribal government relations efforts for TNC Washington, leading engagement with Tribal government representatives and senior Tribal staff
• Negotiate complex and innovative agreements and/or partnerships with Tribal governments
• Report to TNC WA’s Director of Policy and Government Relations and collaborate with local/global Indigenous teams, Science, Conservation, and External Affairs
• Serve as member (and potential Co-Lead) of the Supporting Indigenous Rights and Connections to Lands and Waters strategy team
• Provide guidance and leadership on land return, land access, and increasing Tribal capacity to use, access and manage culturally significant lands and waters

• Work with public funding, philanthropy, and other teams to secure funding and investment for Indigenous-led conservation
• Develop multi-faceted legislative campaigns and coordinate cross-boundary collaboration with Idaho, Oregon chapters and regional programs (e.g., Columbia Basin Salmon Program, Emerald Edge)
• Maintain cooperative relationship with North America Indigenous Right Relations team and respect sovereign visions, treaty and reserved rights
• Be onsite in Seattle and Olympia a few times a month (more during legislative session); travel throughout Washington and occasional international travel; work flexible hours as needed

Director, Tribal Government Relations

• Reports to Arizona’s Forest Program Director; responsible for contract, financial and related operations activities for the Arizona Business Unit’s Forest Program
• Serves as Contract Manager and coordinates vendor contracting for multiple projects across the Forest Program
• Supports preparation of scope of work for vendor contracts and prepares internal documents associated with vendor contracts
• Assesses contract risk factors and coordinates communication with legal, Grants, and Contracts staff
• Collaborates with Grants staff for public awards and with Contracts staff for private funds
• Supports vendor selection and engages directly with contractors under guidance of Program Director and external partners
• Approves invoices, addresses discrepancies, communicates approvals for coding and payment, and maintains systems to identify late or missing invoices
• Develops and maintains tracking systems for projects, including tracking project cost against contracts and progress towards deliverables
• May become a TNC certified contracts specialist and share responsibilities with Arizona Operations / grant staff

Executive Assistant

• The Executive Assistant provides direct administrative support to the Associate Chief Development Officer & Campaign Director and the Global Director of Principal Gifts.
• Provides support for division events, retreats, and committee work.
• Provides back-up support for division toll-free line and Chief Development Officer duties when needed.
• Handles domestic and international travel arrangements, calendar management, drafting correspondence and contracts, monitoring executives’ email, processing expenses and invoices, and coordinating meetings and events logistics.
• Uses systems and resources to maintain, track and research data, and produce and review reports.

• Develops, creates and implements communications strategies that align with overall goals for the Pacific Division.
• Provides direction and leadership over earned media, social media, crisis communications and strategic communications.
• Implements an integrated and effective communications and earned media plan to help drive brand awareness and donor engagement and action in the Pacific Division.
• Manages public and media relations, external speaking engagement opportunities, and develops thought leader strategies for subject matter experts (SMEs) and senior leaders.
• Leads and implements strategic communication plans for reputational risk and crisis mitigation.
• Manages one or more staff and facilitates on-going communication between parts of the globally dispersed Marketing division.
• Develops and fosters relations with journalists and key persons in selected media and proactively pitches and places earned media stories.
• Manages communication strategies and program implementation for high profile audiences like Board of Directors, state and country board of trustees, and policymakers.

Associate Director, Strategic Communications and Media

• Lead the California program as the senior leader and conservation strategist for a large, complex business unit in The Nature Conservancy.
• Hybrid position located preferably in Sacramento, San Francisco, or Los Angeles.
• Focus on fundraising, driving innovation, and people management; lead a team across conservation, science, policy, fundraising, finance and operations.
• Collaborate with peers across the Pacific Division in a leadership team that shapes strategy, development, and execution of cross-boundary efforts within the division and globally, including financial and/or human resources.
• California program has protected 1.4 million acres, 5,000 miles of streams, and 3.8 million acres of ocean habitat; aims to increase pace, scale, and effectiveness of conservation.
• Serve as primary spokesperson for TNC in California to internal and external audiences, including donors, media, government agencies and staff.
• Lead fundraising collaboration with global philanthropy team and executives to raise transformational gifts for TNC’s work.
• Approximately five direct reports and 300 staff; budget of $100 million; six offices across the state.
• Routine travel up to 40% across California, Pacific region, nationally and globally.
