Direct and manage all aspects of a varied commercial litigation portfolio, including investigation, pleadings and discovery through the pre-trial, trial, settlement and appeal processes
Effectively direct and manage outside counsel
Work collaboratively within the Legal Department (including Compliance, Government Affairs and Communications colleagues), as well as business stakeholders
Evaluate financial impact and litigation funding options relevant to litigation disputes
Provide proactive, solution-oriented advice and counseling to support and protect business goals and objectives in connection with pre-litigation disputes
Employ highly polished and effective communication, listening, and writing skills, with a focus on interaction with and reporting to senior managers and executive leadership within a global and matrixed organization
Participate in and contribute positively to the Cigna Legal community
Requirements
J.D. and active state bar membership(s) is required
Minimum of 7+years of litigation experience at a top firm, with the federal government, and/or in-house, preferably addressing plaintiff-side or affirmative litigation
Experience representing health insurance or pharmacy benefit management companies
Strong people skills

Ability to present complex legal issues to non-lawyers
