Backend Engineer

• Build Platform Services: Take ownership of features throughout the full development lifecycle, designing and maintaining clean, secure, well-tested code that supports critical business needs with focus on scalability and reliability
• Design APIs & Event-Driven Systems: Create well-versioned APIs (REST/gRPC) and asynchronous workflows (queues, streams, webhooks) that other teams can easily consume, with strong focus on backwards compatibility, idempotency, and robust failure handling
• Work with Cloud Infrastructure: Collaborate with platform teams using cloud-native infrastructure (AWS, Kubernetes, Terraform, Helm) to ensure services are observable, secure, and easy to operate
• Enable Other Teams: Partner with engineering teams across Teya, gathering feedback and translating it into platform capabilities that accelerate their roadmaps. Collaborate with product, design, data science, security, and operations
• Mentor & Drive Quality: Participate in code reviews, mentor developers, define best practices, and contribute to CI/CD improvements while staying updated with trends in software engineering and fintech.

• Design, implement, and continuously improve a Secure SDLC integrated from design through production
• Embed security into planning and delivery via threat modelling, security requirements, and automated controls
• Lead application security reviews for new systems, major features, and high-risk changes across web, API, mobile, and backend services
• Define and maintain secure architecture patterns for authentication, authorisation, APIs, data protection, and multi-tenant isolation
• Own the application security tooling stack (SAST, DAST, SCA), integrating it into CI/CD with high-signal, low-noise outputs
• Partner with engineers to triage and remediate vulnerabilities based on exploitability, impact, and regulatory risk
• Work with Security Operations to improve application-level logging, telemetry, and incident response readiness
• Act as a trusted advisor to engineering teams, raising the bar through practical guidance, documentation, and targeted training

• Prevent & Manage Churn: Monitor account health to catch early warning signals. You'll take timely action to retain clients and proactively reach out to churned accounts to win them back with tailored solutions.
• Solve & Coordinate: Act as the bridge between merchants and internal teams. Whether it's a technical tweak or a complex inquiry, you ensure a frictionless experience.
• Be the Market Voice: Gather structured feedback from active and former clients to help our Product teams shape the future of Teya in Croatia.
