About the role
- Provide data governance expertise, business leadership, and day-to-day data governance activities for the Line of Business
- Act as appointed Data Steward providing oversight and challenge for data-related activities
- Analyze current and emerging data-related risks to ensure activities are within TD's Risk Appetite and policies
- Govern and manage data under stewardship; ensure LOB adheres to enterprise data policies, standards and requirements
- Create, design, implement, and maintain LOB-specific processes, templates, and mitigating controls to support enterprise data policy
- Ensure data-related activities are compliant with applicable laws and regulations
- Provide 1st line oversight of LOB data management activities including metadata and data quality management, data retention and disposition
- Escalate data risks and issues and advise business owners on action plans for mitigation and resolution
- Partner with Technology Risk Management, Legal, Privacy, Office of the Chief Data Officer and other control partners
- Create and deliver training programs and tools to ensure governance and oversight of data
- Help define the Line of Business data strategy and promote a strong data risk management culture
- Lead projects of moderate to complex risk and resource requirements and contribute to setting standards
- Complete data impact assessments and provide input to project teams on safeguarding and managing data
- Perform data quality analysis, assess critical business data, and report breaches through risk escalation forums
- Analyze business processes for appropriate data controls and advise on enhancements
- Manage data risk across the lifecycle of data elements (production, movement and consumption) including pRCSA review and approval
Requirements
- Undergraduate degree or technical certificate
- 5+ years of relevant experience
- Proficient knowledge of data governance/data management practices, enterprise data policy, standards & strategy
- Proficient knowledge of M&A due diligence process, LOB data strategy, data risk management, and data life cycle management
- Knowledge of current and emerging competitor and market trends
- Skill in using analytical software tools, data analysis methods and reporting techniques
- Skill in mentoring/coaching others
- Skill in using computer applications including MS Office
- Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form
- Ability to work collaboratively and build relationships
- Ability to work successfully as a member of a team and independently
- Ability to exercise sound judgement in making decisions
- Ability to analyze, organize and prioritize work while meeting multiple deadlines
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
- Preferred: Experience with data governance surrounding projects & data issues, governance control, and risk
- Preferred: Operational Risk experience strongly preferred
- Preferred: Familiarity with KPI's and metrics
- Preferred: Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational and time management skills
- Preferred: Superb communication skills (written and verbal)
