Execute technical components of river/stream restoration projects as part of a multidisciplinary team
Participate in assessment, design, and construction monitoring of stream restoration projects
Assist senior staff with field work, analysis, and design for large stream restoration projects
Coordinate design work with technical experts to achieve complex project goals
Complete computational modelling (HEC-RAS, MIKE FLOOD, SWMHYMO, PCSWMM) to evaluate river stability, floodplain inundation, and aquatic habitat suitability
Prepare tender documents, perform construction observation, and conduct post-construction monitoring for bank stabilization and river restoration projects
Perform local and remote field work including collection of geomorphological field data and environmental sampling
Assist senior staff with writing reports and design briefs to document analyses
Report directly to the Stream Restoration Team Lead and work with engineers, scientists, and technologists
Requirements
You are either registered as an Engineer-in-Training or Geoscientist-in-Training in the Province of Ontario or are eligible for registration
Registered as an P.Eng. or P.Geo in the province of Ontario or are eligible for eventual registration
Minimum 1 year of experience
Possess knowledge and/or interest in surveying techniques, design/drafting software (Civil 3D) and natural channel design concepts
Self-motivated individual with strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal, and ability to prioritize multiple tasks
Valid driver’s license and able to travel away from home for up to a week completing fieldwork in uneven terrain
