Manage end-to-end payroll processing for all employees (US and global), ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with federal, state, local, and international regulations.
Act as the primary point of contact for payroll inquiries, resolving issues promptly with discretion and accuracy.
Own payroll-related elements of benefits (e.g., retirement contributions, leave tracking) and partner cross-functionally with Finance to streamline processes and improve system integrations.
Guide the company through payroll/HRIS system implementations and upgrades; recommend and implement process improvements that leverage best practices and automation.
Maintain accurate payroll records and ensure compliance through timely tax filings, reconciliations, and audit support; partner closely with Finance and Accounting on month-end close, reporting, and payroll tax audits.
Ensure confidentiality, security, and integrity of all payroll and employee data.
Oversee day-to-day administration of employee benefits, including onboarding, enrollment, changes, and terminations.
Manage annual open enrollment and lead clear, accessible employee communications around benefits programs.
Partner with brokers and vendors to evaluate, design, and optimize benefits offerings that align with company values, industry standards, and employee needs.
Negotiate benefits plans and contracts to ensure cost efficiency and competitiveness.
Audit and approve monthly benefits invoices, ensuring accuracy of employee deductions and employer contributions.
Ensure compliance with ERISA, ACA, COBRA, and other applicable regulations.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative or business-related field
5–7+ years of progressive payroll and benefits experience, ideally in a high-growth or multi-state environment; global payroll experience a strong plus.
In-depth knowledge of US payroll regulations, payroll tax compliance, and employment standards; familiarity with ERISA, ACA, COBRA, and other benefits-related regulations.
Proven experience managing payroll for distributed teams; international payroll exposure preferred.
Hands-on proficiency with payroll software and HRIS platforms (Rippling preferred), with experience implementing or upgrading systems.
Demonstrated experience managing and supporting workers’ compensation audits, including preparation of documentation and coordination with external auditors.
