Manager

• Provide crisis intervention and develop an individualized safety plan
• Assist victims in filing for protective orders and completing affidavits
• Accompany clients to court proceedings and various appointments (i.e., attorney meetings, protective order hearings, custody hearings, and housing interviews)
• Perform assessment of client’s physical, mental health and social needs, employability, educational needs, quality of life issues, strengths and needs, and other necessary areas
• Coordinate services amongst mental health service workers, service providers, advocates, the legal system and other involved parties
• Coordinate children’s services including education and daycare, programming and counseling

• Provide domestic violence education to clients utilizing tools such as The Power and Control Wheel and the Cycle of Violence
• Empower clients to meet goals developed in their individual service plan and collaborate with client to develop a plan for exiting shelter
• Collaborate with Resource Coordinator’s to ensure comprehensive client driven service delivery.
• Advocate for clients and complete referrals to meet client needs.
• Ensure that Artemis House staff are aware of clients’ needs by completing daily documentation and communicating client updates to all staff
• Assist with room turnover, client moves, and preparation for clients entering and exiting the program.
• Listen effectively, delivers effective written and oral communication.
• Maintain familiarity with agency and program emergency procedures
• Participate in staff meetings and trainings as directed by supervisor
• Function as a contributing member of a multidisciplinary team with Shelter House Inc. employees and involved agencies to assist client with their identified goals
• Ensure compliance with all agency policies
• Proficiently operate a personal computer, fax, printer, copier and Microsoft Office products (email, calendar, drive, etc.).

Case Manager

• Conduct comprehensive assessments of each household’s housing history, barriers, physical and mental health, social needs, education and employment goals, financial management skills, and overall strengths and needs.
• Maintain reliable and consistent contact with households, even when they relocate or change phone numbers, to ensure ongoing engagement and support.
• Assist clients in completing required documentation and paperwork throughout the program process to ensure timely access to services and housing.
• Provide housing navigation support, including identifying available housing options, facilitating landlord engagement, and assisting with the lease-up process.
• Meet regularly with assigned households to provide individualized case management services and referrals that promote housing stability.
• Ensure timely communication and information-sharing with all relevant partners and stakeholders.
• Support clients in creating and maintaining household budgets and developing strong money management skills.
• Participate in collaborative meetings with representatives from faith-based, community-based, and partner organizations to deliver coordinated, wraparound services.
• Help clients overcome common barriers to securing housing, such as large rent arrears, low credit history, and misunderstandings of landlord–tenant rights.
• Assist clients in achieving long-term housing stability by ensuring compliance with lease agreements and developing Individualized Housing Sustainability Plans.
• Mediate conflicts involving households, roommates, or landlord-tenant issues that may threaten housing stability.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for landlords and foster positive, ongoing relationships.
• Develop and maintain a comprehensive Resource Directory of local and state service providers.
• Maintain accurate, thorough, and timely case documentation in HMIS and client files, in accordance with agency standards and best practices.
• Collaborate as a contributing member of a multidisciplinary team with Shelter House staff and community partners.

Rapid Re-Housing Case Manager

Events

• The Prevention Case Manager supports survivors in the community experiencing domestic and sexual violence, stalking, and/or human trafficking who are at imminent risk of homelessness.
• This position is responsible for providing time-limited direct services to clients by assessing client needs, connecting clients to appropriate services, and advocating to ensure the provision of comprehensive services which support survivors in increasing safety and achieving housing stability.
• The Prevention Case Manager utilizes their knowledge of community resources to provide families with connection to legal services, case coordination, and other supportive services in the community as needed.
• Case management services are provided in a client-centered manner driven by the victim’s needs and goals and respecting client self-determination.
• Perform in-depth assessments of clients’ physical, mental health and social needs, life skills competency, employability, housing history and barriers, educational needs, financial management skills, strengths and needs, and other necessary areas, in conjunction with the client, to develop and achieve housing goals.
• Administer flexible financial assistance to support client goals related to safety and stability.
• Provide mobile advocacy services by meeting with assigned clients regularly in a safe location in the community.

• Provide domestic violence psychoeducation to clients utilizing tools such as The Power and Control Wheel and the Cycle of Violence.
• Empower clients and their household members as they work toward their individual goals; completing ongoing reviews of client service plans.
• Work with the Senior Case Manager to ensure that services are implemented in accordance with agency philosophy, best practices, and all applicable federal, state and local regulations.
• Collaborate with community providers and allied professionals to ensure the delivery of comprehensive wrap-around services.
• Participate in staff meetings and training as directed by supervisor.
• Function as a contributing member of a multidisciplinary team with Shelter House Inc. employees, deployed staff, and involved agencies.

Prevention Case Manager

Director

• Provide leadership, direction, and oversight for Emergency Shelter, Hypothermia, Drop-In, and Outreach programs.
• Actively participate in Continuum of Care (CoC) meetings to strengthen community partnerships and support Fairfax County's Ten-Year Plan to Prevent and End Homelessness.
• Supervise the Assistant Director of Programs (ADP), Assistant Director of Shelter Operations (ADSO), Kitchen Manager, and Custodian, ensuring continuity of operations during vacancies or staff absences. Supervise interns as needed.
• Support the ADP in implementing strengths-based, trauma-informed, and solution-focused case management practices while assisting with complex cases and crisis intervention.
• Ensure compliance with Fairfax County HMIS requirements and monitor the quality, accuracy, and completion of client documentation.
• Support the ADSO in maintaining a safe, housing-focused residential environment and overseeing facility and vehicle maintenance.
• Coordinate staffing and operational needs during weather events, emergencies, and other critical incidents.
• Ensure all services comply with agency philosophy, evidence-based practices, grant requirements, contracts, and applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
• Develop and maintain internal policies, procedures, and workflows aligned with Shelter House standards and funder expectations.
• Oversee customer satisfaction surveys and incorporate participant feedback into program improvements.
• Facilitate client appeals related to extensions, discharges, and other program decisions.
• Partner with Data Program staff to ensure compliance with reporting requirements, conduct file audits, and prepare reports for quality assurance and contractual obligations.
• Collaborate with the Finance Department to manage program budgets and ensure effective use of resources.
• Deliver presentations and represent Shelter House at community events and meetings as requested by the Development or Executive Teams.
• Partner with the Community Coordinator to communicate program needs, track in-kind donations, and strengthen community relationships and donor engagement.
• Participate in an on-call rotation and support staff during crises, emergencies, and staffing shortages.

Director of Kennedy Shelter

• Collaborate with clients to evaluate safety and social needs, housing history and barriers, financial management and budgeting, and develop and achieve individualized goals
• Maintain a caseload of between 12-18 clients at a time, providing client-centered, trauma-informed services
• Provide mobile advocacy services by regularly meeting with clients in a safe location in the community
• Engage with clients to create individualized safety plans and educate clients on the dynamics of domestic violence
• Identify resources to help clients increase their levels of physical and emotional safety
• Assist clients in filing for protective orders and support clients with court accompaniment
• Collaborate with clients to develop sustainable budgets and facilitate connections to financial literacy programs
• Utilize the housing-first model to develop focused and individualized service plans
• Provide housing search assistance to clients by identifying leads, assisting with applications, and attending tours
• Establish relationships with local properties and landlords and advocate on behalf of clients
• Educate clients on tenant rights and responsibilities and housing discrimination law
• Coordinate the provision of monthly rental assistance and track all payments provided
• Document all communication with clients in detailed case notes; ensure client files and data are regularly updated
• Ensure services are implemented in accordance with agency philosophy, best practices, grant requirements, and all applicable federal, state, and local regulations
