Support and build SCOPE’s eyecare pipeline and provide operational leadership in advancing Ideation Stage projects
Lead projects and early-stage portfolio activities across therapeutic and device areas (OTC monograph, medical device, Pre-IND/NDA pathways)
Partner with market research, Medical Affairs, Commercial, BD and R&D to search, identify, evaluate and assimilate internal and external assets for the eyecare franchise
Lead cross-functional teams from product ideation to launch, aligning with business innovation strategy
Lead teams focused on Discovery, Ideation and early development through handoff to Development
Work with contract research groups, universities and internal R&D teams; gather and analyse data to support Ideation meetings and Stage-Gate core teams
Provide leadership and collaboration with stakeholders (Research, Early Development, Development and Translational Science, Commercial, Finance, Regulatory, Manufacturing) to define project vision, scope, milestones, risk assessment and investment needs
Transfer technologies incubated with external or internal partners to R&D and Manufacturing with required scientific information for Stage Gate transitions and launch readiness
Create Ideation development plans with realistic spending and timeline forecasts and provide oversight of project execution
Support evaluation of external opportunities with BD for in-licensing assessment to support ideation and concept development
Establish and maintain strategic relationships with academic institutions, research hospitals, and innovation hubs for collaboration
Conduct technology landscaping and horizon scanning to identify emerging technologies and competitive innovations
Implement data-driven decision-making processes using advanced analytics (e.g., multi-criteria scoring matrix) to optimize project selection and resource allocation
Actively engage with Ideation Board committee to review, discuss and present key technical project information
Operate with entrepreneurial mindset to develop complex concepts into reality while managing risk for medical device and pharmaceutical regulatory needs
Generate robust technical documentation in support of product development and Stage-Gate recommendations
Requirements
PhD in life sciences, engineering or pharmacology with front and back of the eye ocular subject matter expertise
Project management training or managerial / leadership certification (desirable)
Own the technical strategy for Ideation projects and contribute to technical problem solving
Excellent ability to use initiative, prioritise, multi-task, and work well under pressure to meet deadlines
Calm dealing with a fast paced, large workload environment
Very clear and systematic thinking demonstrating strong judgment and problem-solving competencies
Excellent communication skills in multicultural and multi-lingual environments
Highly organized and structured with strong analytical skills
Well-developed strategic thinking with a track record of leading and completing large strategic programmes
Ability to manage organisation wide programmes within budgetary and other constraints
Strong ability to exercise a high degree of independence to ensure programme delivery and explore new areas of activities
Proven ability in managing internal and external stakeholders and strong management
