About the role

  • Drive the design vision and execution for a key area of the Slack product
  • Collaborate with PMs, engineers, data scientists, and other designers to build customer-centric experiences
  • Work cross-functionally to represent the design team and give feedback in planning and product channels
  • Work across the entire product design process: strategy, user journeys, flows, wireframes, prototypes, visuals, and handoff
  • Solicit feedback from peers and partner with engineering to ensure high-quality implementation and UX
  • Raise the bar for craft by contributing to and evolving the design system
  • Contribute to and inform design processes with Design Leadership
  • Contribute to content strategy, content design, and product copy for Slack Growth
  • Develop content strategy frameworks, messaging guidelines, and component-level language guidelines
  • Utilize content-first design methods and create narratives demonstrating intent and outcomes
  • Proactively demonstrate impact using data to guide and advocate for decisions
  • Contribute to building a positive, collaborative, and healthy team culture

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience as a product designer with a strong track record of shipping high-impact work
  • A growth mindset and ability to thrive and adapt to a fast-paced environment
  • Strong UX portfolio showcasing product design, UX writing and content strategy with measurable impact
  • Proficiency in Figma and experience working with design system components
  • Experience advocating for content and design and driving projects forward
  • Strong understanding of Slack voice and ability to adapt it based on context
  • Holistic thinking to deliver craft across web, desktop and mobile
  • Clear grasp of interaction design, usability, systems thinking, and accessibility best practices
  • Understanding of dependencies between design, front-end and backend technologies
  • Solid understanding of building usable, accessible, and modular designs that scale
  • Comfort working autonomously, navigating ambiguity, and influencing cross-functional partners
  • Experience working with Product Managers to develop strategy and rationale for features
  • Experience with prototyping to explore and convey design solutions
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills (especially if you love to use emoji 😎)
