About the role
- Drive the design vision and execution for a key area of the Slack product
- Collaborate with PMs, engineers, data scientists, and other designers to build customer-centric experiences
- Work cross-functionally to represent the design team and give feedback in planning and product channels
- Work across the entire product design process: strategy, user journeys, flows, wireframes, prototypes, visuals, and handoff
- Solicit feedback from peers and partner with engineering to ensure high-quality implementation and UX
- Raise the bar for craft by contributing to and evolving the design system
- Contribute to and inform design processes with Design Leadership
- Contribute to content strategy, content design, and product copy for Slack Growth
- Develop content strategy frameworks, messaging guidelines, and component-level language guidelines
- Utilize content-first design methods and create narratives demonstrating intent and outcomes
- Proactively demonstrate impact using data to guide and advocate for decisions
- Contribute to building a positive, collaborative, and healthy team culture
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience as a product designer with a strong track record of shipping high-impact work
- A growth mindset and ability to thrive and adapt to a fast-paced environment
- Strong UX portfolio showcasing product design, UX writing and content strategy with measurable impact
- Proficiency in Figma and experience working with design system components
- Experience advocating for content and design and driving projects forward
- Strong understanding of Slack voice and ability to adapt it based on context
- Holistic thinking to deliver craft across web, desktop and mobile
- Clear grasp of interaction design, usability, systems thinking, and accessibility best practices
- Understanding of dependencies between design, front-end and backend technologies
- Solid understanding of building usable, accessible, and modular designs that scale
- Comfort working autonomously, navigating ambiguity, and influencing cross-functional partners
- Experience working with Product Managers to develop strategy and rationale for features
- Experience with prototyping to explore and convey design solutions
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills (especially if you love to use emoji 😎)
